Mixcraft 10.5 Recording Studio

I am an old Cubase user, but health and other issues kept me away from production for a few years and my old Cubase 7 is well redundant. I am not a professional musician, I like to create and experiment and try multiple genres just to scratch the creative itch.

Picked up Mixcraft 9 in a bundle on Humble (I think) a while back and having recently returned to production I thought I'd give it a go since upgrading my Cubase is well out of my current budget (mostly retired disabled pensioner).

Since learning the ins and outs I recently upgraded to 10 with a very budget friendly price.

Mixcraft is very intuitive to use, especially if one has experience in other DAWs as familiar tools are in familiar places. I have never had to refer to the manual and any confusion as to where, what or how I may have had was solved with a quick search. Answers to issues seem fast to find so while I am not an active part of any community, support from users seems to be out there. I have struggled with learning some other software I have trialled and Mixcraft seemed the easier of the lot.

I have an old collection of Native Instruments tools, bought Komplete...err...5(?) years ago and all those amazing synths such as Massive, Absynth and my beloved Battery all work flawlessly. So do my U-he products. 64-bit Supported.

On my system 10 feels a little heavier than 9 and performance in loading projects and swapping/adding VST effects on the fly does not seem as smooth as it did in 9. I feel the same on the laptop I also run it on, but it is well workable and does not slow down the actual process of production at all but is there reason for the dropped star for this review. 10's improvements over 9 are nice, I won't list them here.

I have a muti-monitor setup of four screens and being able to undock windows such as the mixer and sound/sample library to a separate screen is great.

I am a terrible mixer/engineer but I am well happy with the result I am able to get out of this software.

For budget minded people or enthusiasts looking to dip their digital toes, Mixcraft is a solid professional easy to learn product and at a price point that many competitors only offer severely cut down and limited applications..

I can only recommend this daw. I have used Reaper, Cubase, Logic and Samplitude for many years. Mixcraft 10 and the initiative workflow is a blessing. I've been using Mixcraft since version 8.

I use about 300 different plugins from various manufacturers in Mixcraft and everything works as it should. To this day I haven't had to use the manual once and I make really complex mixes with various automations, vocoders etc. I think that says it all.

The forum and the community are super awesome. At the beginning of version 10 I had a few minor bugs, all of which were fixed immediately.

I won't use anything else to search idiotic endless context menus for needed features or to ask the community how to do something simple.

I've been using Mixcraft for over ten years. I've worked with Mixcraft 5, 7, 8, 9, and now 10, and this is by far the WORST version of Mixcraft I have EVER used. None of my samples from previous versions will carry over, a good portion of my plug-ins won't load into it, and its just not very user friendly. I used to be able to use the space bar to pause/ play, but not anymore. Sometimes the play/pause button on the screen doesn't even work. If I open a plug-in to edit it, I can't close out of it, the x doesn't do anything. Same with editing virtual instruments, so I end up with multiple tabs open that I can't close out of. I can't go into preferences. No clue why it just won't let me open it, so I have no way to switch to headphones, change MIDI preferences, etc. Honestly I tried this version out for about two weeks and then went right back to using version 9, at least that one actually works. I only paid the $39 upgrade price and I feel it wasn't worth it, I could never imagine paying full price for this garbage. I've been a loyal customer to Acoustica for most of my music career but I think it's time to just save my money and get something better like FL or Logic.

As you can see below, even with the project paused it will not let me get into preferences, ctrl + alt + p doesn.t work either I tried. I have multiple FX and instrument tabs I can't close out of. I would have left this review on Acoustica's site directly, but their site doesn't have anywhere to leave reviews, I wonder why.

I have just purchased mixcraft 10 pro upgrade from mixcraft 9 pro and I have to say that this DAW is the very first one I came across a few years back where everything was absolutely pristine fabulous of which worked straight out of the box and everything was where one would expect it to be even if you have never used a DAW before. It's just phenomenal for the price imho. For paid DAWS I would say that this software is up there as a strong contender as a solid DAW but doesn't seem to get the publicity that it deserves but I started with mixcraft 8 home and 8 pro and then moved on to 9 pro and I have never ever come across any issues and for the amount of extras that you get with this software I don't honestly think you can go wrong in conjunction with a team of developers that are really really down-to-earth and extremely helpful. If you are looking for a DAW to start you off on your journey of music production I don't honestly think that you could go wrong by purchasing acoustica mixcraft as long as you have the specs needed to run a DAW. I have 32 gig RAM on one laptop and 64 on the other but this software works perfectly on an old 8 gig RAM laptop I have. The UI is sleek and very upmarket and the software extras that you get with this alone are worth the money. Because I owned mixcraft 9 pro I upgraded for an insanely low price and it has never faltered and although I am not a professional musician I hope one day to be able to write my own music and I will be featuring this DAW on my YouTube channel in the near future such is the awesomeness of the software. Have a fabulous day, Steph.

I am using Mixcraft (Recording Studio) for about a month extensively, and there was no need (for me) to read any of the documentation. I used Mulab and Reaper before. Mulab is nice but has its limitations. Reaper is also nice, but it feels like there are too many whistles, and the plugins (js) UI turns me off.

Mixcraft has some awesome tools built in. For example, I love the compressors (try the TB bus compressor) and TB de-esser. There are also synths like Messiah, Journey, VB3 organ (my favorites), and more instruments.

The UI is fine to me (1920x1080), and the program works stable. I have 600 VST plugins, and all are working fine.

Some people claim that DAWs have each their sound (like one is warmer or brighter than the other one), but that is a myth. So I would choose a DAW according to price, stability, workflow, capabilities, etc.

Yes, it's a nice DAW, and I hope Mixcraft will do well in the coming years.

Robert.

Best DAW out there!!! It gives me all the functionality I need to fully produce an entire song from scratch, while making it really easy for me to do so! All other DAWs out there are more expensive, seem insanely complicated, and they aren't any better than Mixcraft. After all, all you need to produce is a DAW that gets the job done the best way possible, but you'd also want it to be simple and efficient.

Mixcraft, keep up the good work, and hopefully we'll see the next Mixcraft 10 soon :).

Criminally underrated, .

Been using FL Studio for 10+ years, but wanted to switch to a more linear type DAW, and after testing Waveform, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper and Acid Pro, i stumbled upon Mixcraft almost by mistake and decided to give it a try.

Ive paid $299 for FL Studio at the time, and recently paid $30 for Mixcraft during a promotion, and i havent touched FL Studio for almost 3 months and i probably gonna keep on using Mixcraft from now on as my only DAW.

So what's so special about it? It's easy to use, i found that I'm able to compose faster that i could in FL Studio, and it has some very nice features such as:

- instrument stacking on every channel (with note and velocity filters).

- global modulation system, .

- easiest side chaining and MIDI routing that I've ever seen.

- one knob compressor and saturation on every mixer track.

- very competent performance panel a-la Bitwig.

This is a great and full featured DAW, and fact that nowadays i rather use it than use FL Studio which i invested much more money in, speaks for itself.

UPDATE: 6/13/23 * Mixcraft Pro Studio V.10 *

- Incredible scaling for superb scalable 4K/8K monitors

- FULL VST3 support with incredibly robust stability on par with Pro-Tools.

- Excellent mixer with a completely revamped and highly accurate mixer.

- Accurate mixdown of the master that sounds exactly like the original mix (leaving FL Studio and Studio One 6 with their flat and non-dynamic mixdown) Mixcraft exports your work in 24-bits with a professional and unique precision in the market.

- A joke price, I paid $39 for the upgrade from 9 to v10 (Well done Acoustica!!!).

- Professional effects

- Incredibly robust MIDI board and never leaves a note behind when you Quantize.

- Best DAW on the market with CPU heavy VST like 'Avenger - Vengeance' - I could simultaneously run 41 instances of the synth and it barely scraped 35%, impressive performance!

- Dream automation, any handle you move on the synth will record excellently! You can cut and paste entire tracks including all automation.

- Excellent Samplers included, you drag a loop and it automatically cuts it mapped to the Sampler, crazy!

- TB Barricade the best mid class limiter on the market! Try it, your mix will never be as punchy as with it.

- Instant combination of synth layering and layered effects with instant recall.

- Excellent and robust audio handling and wave elasticity algorithm, whatever you throw at the sequencer it will automatically put it in time, not like Studio One's garbage, you have to manipulate it and it never stays in time, Mixcraft is classy here.

- The recording controls bar detached wherever you want, lightning fast loading of large projects and top notch support make Mixcraft v10 the DAW of your dreams, trust me, it leaves all the others that cost 10 times more by the way!!.
