Humanoid Sound Systems is based in Edinburgh in the UK and was founded in 2006 by John Proctor, a professional software developer who has been working on experimental projects based on Scanned Synthesis since 2003 and has been creating and recording electronic/digital music since 1992.
John is the CEO, in charge of Concepts and Development. His dream has always been to combine new forms of synthesis with simplified controls and familiar interfaces including filters, LFOs and effects.
He is very interested in generative music, a term popularized by Brian Eno to describe music created by a system that is ever-different and changing, while his development skills are also much in demand by other companies perfecting innovative softsynths for the modern musician.
Other members of the team include Berend Vervelde, who designed the 'previously undiscovered Soviet technology' interface for Scanned Synth Pro 2, while Efrain Becerra of Spec Graphics has created the stunning graphics you see here on this new web site, Damien Rennick is working with John on the development of ENZYME, and Andy Reaburn who provides customer support and testing expertise.
