Ok guys what are the best free FX out there for processing vocals? What I would like to see is a list of nice compressors, reverbs, dessers etc. that would work well processing vocals. I'd like to avoid adding strange and unussual FX to the list. I'm looking to get vintage vocals so things like reverse delays and vst's that really deconstruct and mangle the vocals would be out. Thanks, lets have fun... Rock

Preface: I'm new to all this stuff and a production hack... but I'm also cheap as hell, so I've tried all the free stuff I can find.. Digitalfishphones FishFillets compressor, expander, and de-esser (VST) http://www.digitalfishphones.com/ The AnwidaSoft dx reverb light (Direct-X format only) http://www.anwida.com/dxrevlight.asp -Garret

not particularly vintage, but you might like this..
http://home.earthlink.net/~plattermatic/choral.zip simple chorus effect that subtly modifies the rate and depth. kinda lush sounding. otherwise, another vote for fish fillets.

I really like mda's free Dynamics compressor on vocals. His mda Detune plugin is great for subtle (or not-so-subtle!) chorusing effects too....just a little tiny bit can really go a long way to making the vocals stand out nicely in a mix. I've also found that SmartElectronix's Ambience reverb works really nicely on vocals too.
