Hi there

back to Qspec again! We have released the new version of QSpec - QSpecPro, it's still free and still in development.

The new version is still a 32/64/128 spectrum analyser, but it is should now use less CPU, has a new design and it is easier define the range the analyser works in because it has a top and bottom frequency slider. Also added is a couple of new mode: - line frequency, 3D spectrum (as shown in screen) and a volume graph. There are a couple of other improvements which are described in the readme.

The new version is available at http://www.concretefx.com/QSpectPro.zip.

Any suggestions/problems etc please contact us, our web page is http://www.concretefx.com and email is mail@concretefx.com

Cheers

Nice!
I really like the 3D spectrum. Definitely some good eye candy. Hopefully it will help me with my mixes too.
Thanks again,
Ben

Hi there

Slightly updated version at http://www.concretefx.com/QSpectPro.zip. This has stereo osciliscope mode and you select the colour used by QSpectPro.

Hey Jonathan!

very nice work!! Smile

I think you made a mistake with the frequency scale...
if i feed your program with an 800Hz sinewave
it tells me the sinewave is 400Hz Smile

cheers!

Hi there

Thanks for all the feedback. After looking at what Bram said I found out QSpectPro wasn't reading the sample rate correctly (it was always set at 44.1khz), this probably cause the 800/400Hz problem. The new version with this fixed can be downloaded http://www.concretefx.com/QSpectPro.zip

Cheers

Hi Jonathan,

I don't know if this is possible performance-wise, but I have a suggestion for you.

A multi-channel QSpect that shares a single GUI view between several instances of the plugin, and so allows you to see the spectra of different channels in your mix overlaid in different colours. So you have the spectrum for your drums in green, and the guitar in red, etc.

thats a really good idea, since you could see frequencies overlaying and what not..........but how would that work?.......on the range, say 20h would be blue?......etc?
I think it would work like that........so one view as above, but different colors for the ranges........I bet it would help alot out when finalizing a mix

Thank you, Jonathan. I'm so wasted from pointless sparring today that I can't even unzip it right now, but tomorrow is another day. Thank you for the splendidness...whatever is the word...I'm falling over from energy drain right now.

so sir Jonathan, is the color scheme a feasable idea?
Concretefx

Hi there

I'am not sure how you would let Qspec know which channel was productin g which sound. You could use a different instance of Qspec for each channel , or the signal could be split into different bands and the value of these bands shown but this is not really what you looking for. Any ideas about how to do this would be very interesting

Cheers

well actually I meant it on the plug itself.....meaning each band frequency per instance of q could be a different color....i.e. 20k be red etc etc.

Hi there

Sorry I miss understood you, I would think that wouldn't be too hard to do. I'll have to look into it

Hi there

At http://www.concretefx.com/QSpectPro.zip there is a new version which allows you to toggle between volume > colour and frequency > colour (and it also has a scrolling spectograph now)

Cheers

I can't get the new QSpectrumPro to work. It doesn't show anything, just blank. Is there something I need to do to get it started? The older versions still work, but this new one doesn't display anything (and, incidentally, uses about 70% CPU to do it!)

I have tested it in Chainer, Bidule, V-Stack, Tracktion and Cubase SL. It was the same in all of them.

BTW, Qwah2 (which I absolutely love) has a funny issue, but only with some instruments and only in Chainer. I'm going to assume that it's a Chainer issue rather than a QWah issue. Any actual use of QWah (like in a song) won't be using Chainer, anyways. The problem is this: high notes (C4+) coming from some instruments (CronoX, Electron so far) shut QWah2 off (on preset 1:Wah1 but not the default patch) and it has to be reloaded to start working again.

Damn. Embarassed I hate to post such a negative post, but I thought you'd rather know this stuff than not...

That's a weird one, pough(and Jonathan).I've got CronoX(but not Electron),and it works fine here in Chainer-Wah2 works fine all the way up the keyboard.Remind you of some of my troubles,Jonathan? Confused

new version of q Jon doesn't work in flstudio 4.1 here either
the cpu went to about 71% just loading it, and the display did not work when I played some notes.
the version before worked just fine.
I was wanting to change the colors too Sad Laughing

you got it working alright and a nice addition to say the LEAST
between the color changing and all the different viewforms, by simply clicking on the freq box.....very simple to see, light on the cpu, pretty, and helpful all to boot..

thanks again!!!!! Smile Smile
