I wonder wondering if there are any plugins that allow you to view the waveform of a particular channel/time segment from within a sequencer? Is this even a plausible idea for a plugin?
What I basically want to do is check the peaks of each individual channel then cut them off if necessary. But this isn't really possible without exporting the sequence, loading up Sound Forge or whatever, then checking what settings to use for your limiter (L2 for example). I know the most ideal situation would be to render each track seperately then "composite" it all together, but I'm just very comfortable with the way my mastering setup already works. I've got enough CPU cycles that I can basically do this same thing in realtime in my sequencer, but not being able to see the waveform is kind of limiting. So the premise for the plugin is: A plugin that can visually 'render' the waveform of a particular channel with the option of being able to render a specified time segment.

Cubase 5.x had the "Scopion" plugin, a basic virtual oscilloscope which you could use for this kind of task...
