How do all.
I'm looking for 2 effects 1) An envelope controlled attack effect. I want to record guitar track whereby if I play a low velocity note on my guitar then I want a slow attack on the sound and if I play a note hard then the attack is much quicker (as on a velocity controlled ADSR) 2) A vibrato effect that only comes in if I play a sustained note for a certain amount of time. Thanks in advance of any help

Can't help you I'm afraid, but I agree that would be a top effect, useful for creating all kinds of pad sounds. Perhaps one of the coder bods can enlighten us if it would be possible?

Those are cool ideas. They make me wish I were a real programmer. I wonder if some of the programming is already there with things like auto-wah. Someone like Jon from ConcreteFX might be willing to put something like this together. Or maybe xoxos in synthedit. He will at least demean you for not doing it yourself and then tell you how it could be done...

actually, thinking about it, there is a fishphones effect (dominiom?) that has an attack and sustain thing going on. However, i don't think it's velocity sensitive. I'll have to have a look tonight.
I'm sure if the principle exists in samplers it can be applied in real time as a seperate effect. I came across MHC space effect yesterday (as opposed to space synthesiser). That had some cool effect things going on. Have to have a deeper look. I don't really know a lot about synthedit Thanks guys

Hi there
Here's vibro which is a very rough and ready prototype of the second effect. You can set the trigger volume where at which vibrato starts, the attack time of the vibrato, it's speed and amount. You can download it from http://www.concretefx.com/Vibro.zip CHeers Jon: ConcreteFX PS I always like a challenge Pough and i was a bit bored writing the manual for dicer

Now, if only I wasn't starting my day at work...

Screw work. Tried it out in a FL Studio demo here. Works really well, Jon, though I'll also have to try it with guitar. Is the vibrato supposed to build up speed? I guess that's kind of like a real Leslie... it would be nice to set that, though. But why am I complaining? It's pretty damn cool that a dev would build something we ask for within a very short time of us asking for it and then just giving it to us!
Thanks! | |

Hi there
If you dowload vibro again at http://www.concretefx.com/Vibro.zip , it has been updated so it has different attack speeds for low / high volumes (if you turn the vibrato off this should function like the first effect mentioned) , different vibrato start / finish speeds and has a autopanner now as well Cheers Jon: ConcreteFX

Fucking Hell!
Actually Jon, I want to take over the world purely to let people make peace through music and not become a one man domination machine. Any chance that could be ready in, say, I hour? Jeez, that's 2 hrs and 10mins since I posted the thread and not only was it replied to but an effect built to the idea! Judging by Donkey's & Pough's responses I think yer gonna make a lot of happy people here. Downloadin now. Fuck me, I don't believe this place. (sorry bout the swearing Ben but I'm absolutely gobsmacked.)

Hi there
No problem, the world domination needs to a bit of work though especially the undersea secret base and I'm still look for a good henchmen and/or cat (terrapins just aren't the same) Cheers Jon: ConcreteFX

Well, I know a man from Atlantis I knew there would be a catch here, there's no presets This is looking really good but just got home from work (sorry Pough) so gotta look after the baby for a bit till she sleeps (after I've visited the Concrete site though!) Sorry Jon, i've never had much chance to look at your work but I've heard a lot about it so gotta check it out. Gotta say it again, Fuck me, i'm amazed. Damn that felt good.

Sorry didn't have time for presets Cheers Jon

Hihi, cheers Jon, too pissed to plug in the gitar now, but I'll give it a whirl on the morrow!

nice description pough
i'm good for the first one, but it is my privilege, as a synthedit employing developer to require you to meet one stipulation: you must compile the plug-in. this means that you must install synthedit, test and discuss features, requiring a modicum of source file perusal. i'll even custom 3d render gui elements for you if you get some wild hair up your ass about how it should look, but ultimately, you gotta compile it (free to do) with option on distribution. now wouldn't you say that's fair?
| pough | Posted: 4th September 2003 14:59 |
Even if downloading and installing Synthedit, perusing source files and creating my own GUI is something I've already done? I'll admit that I didn't spend up to a modicum of time perusing the source, except by mistake, though.

eh? I was just logging back on to say thanks to Jon at ConcreteFX. I'm sorry I haven't had time to try Vibro yet (babies 'n all Xoxos, I don't know you my friend but if I join a thread then i'm happy to get in a discussion. If I create a thread I don't really expect someone to come along and get like that. Reading back on Pough's comment, I took it as a comment on your proactive attitude towards new ideas and your professionalism in carrying them out. Hence the smile? Excuse me if i've got this totally got this wrong and you are having fun with Pough
| pough | Posted: 4th September 2003 15:23 |
Don't worry, muz. xoxos and I are just having some fun. We go way back. Kinda.
| muz | Posted: 4th September 2003 15:32 |
that's cool (bit cryptic though My mind is on other things though. I'm pretty sure Jules has not only emigrated but defected
| xoxos | Posted: 4th September 2003 16:07 |
i'm saying i'll do it, but only if i can show you how. and you're saying no?
| pough | Posted: 4th September 2003 16:28 |
I very much appreciate your willingness to educate and to help out, xoxos. However, the reasons I am (in this case) turning down your kind offer are:
1) This isn't an effect that I have been craving or asking for, though now that it's been made I'll likely check it out. 2) It has already been made by ConcreteFX, whose FX I tend to like very much. 3) There are things that I build and subjects that I research, but synths and effects are not among them. Not right now, anyways. Which reminds me: now that I'm settled in my new home, I really need to set up my drill press so I can start building things again...
| muz | Posted: 4th September 2003 16:36 |
Hey Pough, how about a bomb shelter for starters
| xoxos | Posted: 5th September 2003 07:56 |
well i wasn't offering to you, was i, so there :p
ta.. didn't catch that vibro had been modded to include the first functionality.. |
