iZotope Trash can make your guitar sound all kinds of things. There is also a new company called Nuton that is making an audio-to-MIDI plugin, so you can make your guitar control a synth... www.nuton.ca

Izotop Spectron is good too, especially in conjunction with Trash.
And everything Ohmforce, all at once

one i find really useful is VirtualCreations Funk FX...basically it's a funkadelic phazer/bit crusher..very cool, ,anc cheap to boot:)

I haven't really given the VirtualCreations stuff a try, mainly because I find their website so unfriendly. It looks nice, but it doesn't play nice. Not as bad as the (still not redesigned) Ohmforce site, but still trickier than I like.

I'm mainly a guitar player and I'm always on the lookout for plugs
form the FSU school of processing!! Buzzroom, and ConcreteFX all have some really cool FREE plugs that are great for guitar mangling!! Cheers......CL

Thanks for posting that Nuton link. I've always been interested in pitch-to-MIDI but not enough to cough up big bucks for the expensive hardware to do so. I'm going to watch 'em and check it out when it ships!

The web site reads like they take up to 60 days to process your credit card. That means that they are either totally incompetent or else they need 60 days to do who knows what? Compared to other e-commerce merchants who validate credit cards right away, this sounds suspect. As an example, AAS validated my VISA for Tassman in about 1 minute. There is no excuse for 60 days.

I don't know what that 60 days thing is all about , a safe guard against
people using stolen credit cards maybe . EDIT = Ahh I get it now , your card is processed straight away but the software developer holds your reg key back for 60 days in case of card fraud resulting in them not getting paid by reg-soft (but you can still use the software for 60 days without the key . : END EDIT Anyway I purchased it without problem Here what happend The order is taken by RegSoft.com I had this email straight after submiting my order
4 minutes latter I had this email
6 hours latter I got this email
14 days latter I had this email
And finally "60 days" latter I had this email

thats what i was sayin its only a safeguard there end and provided you aint usin a hooky(hot, bent, stolen)card you get your reg code before the time thing everythins topsmartdonendustednoprobsnbobsyeruncle and its quite a nice product too(provided you are better at guitar than me

Ok, now we have got the retail issues out of the way. What is the product like? Does it do as it says on the tin? Latency? Tell us more. I'm interested, but currently a non believer in ANY audio-midi device.

<excellent explanation snipped for brevity> Your detailed explanation made it clear, the text on the web page did not. I also do not think that credit card fraud has anything to do with the 60 days. Other e-commerce sites don't do it, stores and restraunts don't do that. They all authorize within a few minutes in most instances. If you read your card holder agreement, it's up to the card holder to report lost or stoledn credit cards. Besides all that rubbish, have you had a chance to work with the software for a while? What do you think?

Hi guys,
I released an Alpha version Nuton Musiciendoz, which is an audio-to-midi VST plug-in. The alpha version works OK, but I am currently working on making the whole detection algorithm more stable and accurate. (and less CPU hungry) I will keep you posted when the Beta version goes out. It will certainly be the ultimate audio-to-midi solution...and for a very low price. In the mean time, try Tuner EX!

I've been testing the Alpha version Musiciendoz and I can tell you that
it indeed tracks very well for a pithch2midi plugin. Much better than KNZ Midifier. LatSol Guitar Synth is ok, but as it is NOT a VST pluggie it's just not very useful for me. The big drawback for plugins of this type IMHO is that they are only monophonic....good for lead lines but chords are out of the question. Cheers....CL |
