AuthorTopic: autotune stupid mode

when I send midi notes to autotune (processing vocals), autotune still listens to the audio input and calculates the output notes by some relation between the audio input notes and the midi notes, which can lead to some cute random effects, but... I'd like autotune to turn to stupid mode and simply follow the midi notes, for a vocoder effect. is that possible to do? I use version 3.

i was dissapointed to find out that autotune can only use midi note input to set the 'scale' of the tuning somehow.. i don't think you can use it to 'play' the notes you want the audio to snap to.

That's what the "Learn Scale From MIDI" button is for.

That's what the "Target Notes Vis MIDI" button is for.

not yet, I haven't used logic since I read your info. Smile this topic is a different issue that I'm aware of, by processing recorded audio...

well i never! has anyone here used the 'target notes via midi' function while using autotune in logic? I heard elsewhere that this wasn't possible which put me off the idea of autotune (since i'm interested in it more as an effect than as a pitch correction plug)..

yes... but autotune doesn't seem to snap well to the notes. it does reacts to those notes, but in a weird, unsecure manner.

does "Target Notes Via MIDI" works ok for you dr.wackler?

You have to play a little with the Retune and Tracking settings to get good results. But be aware that in the end Autotune's main target is to correct sung voices or instrument lines that are slightly out of tune. So e.g. bending a sung A to a D will always sound weird.
But try this: As the input take a voice or instrument that stays sustained on one note, then play a melody with Autotune on that sound. Sounds quite perfect and not weird at all IMO.

yes, voice machine worked perfectly for me when i tried it, even in realtime with live input. i would buy it if it wasn't so damn expensive.
