AuthorTopic: help with realtime effects processing

posted this in another forum here but didn't really get much of a response... sorry if you've seen this already Embarassed
here's what i'm trying to do (currently in CubaseSX):

i have an audio channel set up to record, and i'm using my microphone to record onto that audio channel. i want to be able to run the incoming audio from that microphone through a tube simulator plugin and a compressor plugin. i want cubase to record the signal after it has been processed by the plugins rather than using insert effects on the output of the channel (i know the process isn't reversible). i know it can be done afterward by destructive editing/processing, but can it be done in real time in any host? if so, how might i go about doing this?

thanks

edit: nevermind, then... someone answered my other post!

Well, I reckon it can't be done, but other folk here say they do it all the time.

I know for a fact that it's possible in Nuendo2 (dead easy, you get an input channel strip with insert effect slots) and so I suppose this feature will also be available in the SX2 update.
