AuthorTopic: Is this a Vocoder or something else?

Seems like every new R&B song, especially ballad, I hear on the radio lately has some sort of vocoder-like effect on the main vocal. Not talking obvious like Cher's "Do You Believe" (I think that was the name of it), but really, really subtle - probably imperceptible to some - so that I'm thinking it isn't intentional. Is subtle vocoding "the thing" now, or could it be an artifact from pitch-shifting or auto-tune or something?

Sorry I don't have any actual song titles, but hopefully someone here (who maybe produces R&B and hip-hop?) knows what I'm talking about.

its autotune... which is a vocoder FFT type trick anyway.. so it does some similar.

Are you talking about Kevin Lyttle - Turn Me On ? Very popular at the moment.
