AuthorTopic: Dreamverb is out

I have been thinking of getting UAD-1 for awhile and now Dreamverb is out.

Anyone got it? How does it compare to SIR or Ambience?

I've got the UAD-1 and I use it with Sonar. It's got some fantastic plugins and Dreamverb is really good IMO. It's worth taking a look at this forum for more info. Smile

I got it Smile as its free if you move quickly - we had to register our cards by the end of October or something and that entitled you Dreamverb for free. I had already registered my card over a year ago and I got my email voucher and then my reg file shortly afterwards so I'm not 100% on the cut off dates but I should check soon if your thinking about it.

Anyway, I wouldn't go so far as to say the Dreamverb is the absolute dogs of a verb compared to high end lexicons etc although its certainly the best I have in so much as its very good quality, easy to tweak and is very light on the old P4. I can't abide SIR for its pissing about and ambience isn't free and heavy on my CPU. At present I will always use a DSP verb over a native one and I use Creamware verbs too which are fine for my needs.

The real reason for owning a UAD-1 card though is the dynamics and EQ plugins. I guarrantee that every single piece of audio you stick through the Pultec EQ, the LA2A or the 1176LN will sound 'better' and soon after you'll stop using whatever native stuff you were using previously.

I paid about £570 for mine over a year ago and now I've just seen them a Digital Village for £495. Most of the time this would piss me off a touch but instead I'm thinking of getting another one. Its the look of that new Fairchild 670 compressor thats doing it and judging by what the existing plugins are like, its going to be a must have.

I fucking love mine Very Happy

Yep,
I hear the compression is to die for...

but I also would love a top rate verb....

Anyone use SpinAudio Roomverb? Opinions?

In my opinion DV is one of the best reverbs around, for sure.

I see it like a Physical modelling space engine. You can customize your room with maaany and every detail you imagine all in a modelling way (you tweak materials, shape of the room, etc). Just like the realverb, but now with a BIG detail and resolution in the resulting sound.

In a word its extremely realistic!

IMO, its the reverb that gets more close to a convolution reverb ( assuming you have some high quality impulses of real living rooms, because thats where the convolution reverbs offer a spectacular result, although these impulses are very rare to find for free ).

Sorry the examples posted with the DV not do justice to that reverb, IMO.

Try to ear by yourself if you have a friend with one UAD1.

Greetings

now i am confused which card to get. powercore 1.8 is due soon with a new guitar amp plug and bug fixes...yet uad is finally coming out for osx..but that will be the first release, so possibly very buggy. more plugins available for powercore, yet everyone swears by the uad dynamics..uad is also cheaper....what to do what to do!

oh, i just remmebred, classicverb for powercore is free, so since dreamverb will soon be $150 extra or whatever, then the price difference of the cards is basically irrelevant

Powercore is supposed to have some good reverbs and there is a lot of 3rd party stuff. But as you say it's more expensive. I think the UAD-1 now covers a lot of bases and two more plugs are to be released both costing $149 which is a lot less than the pay for powercore ones. I don't regret getting UAD-1 and if I had a lot of money I would buy Powercore and the 3rd party stuff. UAD-1 is excellent for what it costs. Smile

Roomverb M2 is about 100 times better than Dreamverb IMHO.

Easily the best non-conv reverb around (maybe bar the Pantheon).
