AuthorTopic: MFX scale filter

OK, so I was messing around with Bidule today and had an idea for a midi FX plug in. I'm hoping it already exists. If not, perhaps someone with knowledge of these things could tell me which path I might take to make it myself?

Anyhow, the idea is derivative from toying with EMM Knagalis demo. It would be cool if there were a MFX plug that filtered the input to lock it into a scale, with a certain root key. It would make random midi plugs more useful, and make lazy people more productive. Did I mention I'm lazy?

Enquiring minds like mine want to know.

One way of doing it would possibly be to try Soundquest Infinity, which is a bit like Reaktor, but can be used to make MFX's of all sorts.

ask frank deizer from www.midi-plugins.de

he programmed a great feature for me in his mfx plugin "rhythmic controller"

maybe he is doing also a plugin for you or he can add this feature in one of his existing plugins

carmen quoth already exists as a midi plugin for sx/nuendo

Pretty pointless to mention a proprietry Steinberg-only plugin when he's looking for an MFX one.

Possibilities:

1) Steal the Transpose MFX from any SONAR install.

2) Get the DXi2/MFX SDK and a C++ compiler to make your own.

3) Annoy me enough to make me finally release my MFX plugs! Razz (honest, people, I just haven't found the time to repackage them...)

Markleford, I just read this thread, sorry that I missed it before:

It sounds like you are a few steps ahead of me on this one already. It would please many people to get their hands on your plugs, methinks, whether they know it or not. Please, Godspeed with them, and thanks for the info.

One thing that's held me back is that if I release them then I'm going to need to *support* them! And that makes it seem like *work*! Razz

So it's been pushed back as an "if I lose my day-job" thing, which I haven't managed to do yet... Wink

In the meantime, take a look at my AcidSpew MFX at www.TenCrazy.com and see if it's the sort of thing you're thinking of.
