AuthorTopic: Need help - distortion in part of song

I've been working on a mix for the song below:

Around the 2:16 mark, the sound distorts for a few seconds. I've tried compression, limiters, EQ and a low-pass filter, but the problem still exists. Is there something else I can do?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but once you've got distortion on a recording, there's nothing you can do to get rid of it. I think that some expensive wave editors like Soundforge have 'repair' functions to get rid of stuff like that, but I couldn't tell you if they work well.

After a few more listens, I noticed even more spots with distortion in the melody. I finally decided to lower the gain on my synth and re-record. It did help but the overall mix is quieter, unfortunately. At least now I know to avoid using leads with a lot of harmonics. Rolling Eyes

What about putting a limiter between the synth and the computer?
