yup.. just got the email..
i love the izotope guys..
| gizmo | Posted: 6th November 2003 17:05 | |||
And I just bought Curves EQ and Soniformer!
| chagzuki | Posted: 6th November 2003 17:31 | |||
Like the new saturation types. Sounds very good to me. I still find the dynamics section ill-thought out and too fiddly.
| jdg | Posted: 6th November 2003 17:38 | |||
i agree about the dynamics bit too.. its not normal.. but i've gotten used to it
| DevonB | Posted: 6th November 2003 17:49 | |||
Yup, just got the email too about the upgrade. Will have to look into it further. Looks pretty cool! Devon

like Ozone. A lot. But it is too heavyweight to use anywhere but on the master. And it is DX. If it were VST, I'd probably use it just for the EQ/Compress on most channels.

Ouch, the Ozone 3 presets KILL my machine. The audio pops contantly, the CPU usage just bounces from 30%-70% constantly, but select another preset, it's fine. Very strange. Already wrote their tech support, waiting for an answer. No sale here so far...

if only they'd go VST | ||||

IMNSHO this sounds pretty bad compared to ozone 2, which i didnt like either. Scratchy, very very noticable even withs light changes and the compression, everythign feels like a crazy hard knee thing. Eq is scratchy and dead like the waves, the reverb sounds really great though...
i hardly think this is even near the voxengo mastering bundle (same price range). not even close. and no vst :-\ cmon. -R p.s. I toyed with it in sonar 3.0 at another local studio on speaker's i'm unfamiliar with. But I did A/B vs some voxengo which sounded slightly different as well, but not worse... so my opinion still maybe a bit skewed.

Plenty of people would disagree with you Robert but there you go you're entitled to your opinion.

denormals? you on p4? they will answer you quickly though, awesome support..it's products like this that make me miss my pc
| DevonB | Posted: 7th November 2003 06:01 | |||
Not Denormals ttoz, I've seen several denormal issues, so I'm quite familiar with it, and this isn't it. This can be sitting here doing NOTHING, and it bounces the CPU meter like a paddleball! Switch it back to a Ozone 2 preset and it works fine. Load Ozone 2 and it works fine. Might just encourage me to look at Voxengo stuff more closely instead. Although I do love that reverb (which should say a lot ocming from me) and the multiband exciter the most. Sweet stuff nonetheless. Devon

I just wanted to let everyone know we're working with Devon to figure out the CPU/stuttering problem. My first guess is that Ozone 3's "delay compensation" option is enabled. This isn't supported in Cubase DX plugs (anyone familiar with iZotope Spectron probably knows this by now).
Once we resolve the issue for sure I'll post the outcome here as well as a link to a patch (if necessary). Regards, Jeremy iZotope, Inc.

Izotope, now that it is official that Cakewalk is working on a surround mixer for Sonar 3, will Izotope follow and upgrade Ozone to support surround?
| Beardedone | Posted: 7th November 2003 10:05 | |||
That's what I call responsive. Bravo iZotope!
I just got mine. Lots of great new features. Gonna check 'em out tonight. I can't wait to try the spectral matching function. Cheers, Gordon

We haven't released anything official yet, but I can say that surround is very interesting to us and relevant to our products (Ozone especially). We're still looking into the possibilities, and I think a lot of Ozone's future depends on what features host apps support in surround plugins.

After toying with the demo on my system, I seem to be more favorable towards ozone 3. I still dislike the limiter, and the EQ is something that most surely requires getting used to, but I can say my original opinion was indeed skewed And Izotope is a coooool company. Only other ocmpany besides voxengo who I've ever had contact me to ask what they could to to a. explain the product better to me, personally and b. help make it better. And for goodness sake, the reverb on ozone itself is great. I may just get it for the reverb -R
| DevonB | Posted: 7th November 2003 11:06 | |||
I agree with you on the EQ Robert, it is a bit weird, and fiddly, and takes some getting used to. And yes, Jeremy already contacted me, in less than 24 hours, which makes me happy. Devon

So how well do Izotope plugins work in cubase then, like ozone and spectron? Is this a major issue for Cubase users?
| izotope2 | Posted: 7th November 2003 12:47 | |||
Ozone 3 introduced new DSP which introduces delay into its output (specifically the digital & matching EQ, room-modeled reverb and digital crossover). So Cubase users now have two options: 1) Configure Ozone 3 to use analog DSP which does not introduce delay. 2) The options dialog now reports exactly how many samples of delay the plugin introduces. If you're using Ozone 3 in a multi-track environment and the delay is significant then you can use this information to compensation for it after mixing down.
| iDavid | Posted: 8th November 2003 12:36 | |||
why not offer ozone and other products in VST format?
| Kajiki | Posted: 8th November 2003 12:41 | |||
Agreed! ...and please please fix Trash's setting loss bug in Logic.
| DevonB | Posted: 8th November 2003 12:55 | |||
Like to say that Jeremy and I got most of it sorted out last nite, and the problem is gone at least. Just be sure to fiddle with your sample buffer latency settings in Options to fix the CPU load and popping problems. Bravo on the customer service!

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I've always found Ozone to be completely intuitive to use, I love the way the dynamics/EQ sections are set up, and the Ozone limiter is my favorite.
I don't use it for mastering, I let the experts do that for me. But for corrective surgery on individual tracks, or for making the demo CDs of my music more listenable for friends, it's a great tool. I'm looking forward to trying out version 3.

I love Ozone and Spektron. I think Izotope makes great products for the money and the support is excellent. They both work great in Sonar 2.2XL. But they are hard on you CPU. Their primer for mastering is well worth the read for beginners.

would Isotop ozone3 have better performance with AMD64?
since Internal Precision: 64 bits |
