AuthorTopic: Can any recommend some FX to get me started?

I'm sort of new to FX and only have what comes with Tracktion (I like the rezfilter alot). But need FX with better GUI and results. Since I'm just getting my feet wet, I'll just be using on individual tracks for now, but if I'm going to make a purchase I want something easy to use, but won't outgrow easily. I actually don't use FX much at all, but finding a need for compression (bass/drum parts mostly) and stuff to mangle sound and get new interesting results. So far I looked into Voxengo (seemed more mastering oriented) and Ohmforce (nice, but a touch extreme results), but I could be wrong! Any advise?
Thanks,

-Rick

for free ones i'd recommend SIR, and Ambience for Reverb, Tridirt, blood overdrive, Ruby Tube, Lofi, and Fuzz+ for Dist., bit crushing, and od, and check out the kjaerhus plugs for everything else. Try some steinbergs too, like Karlette to get you started. There's lots more out there, each to his own.

okay I guess you want to "get your feet wet" with freeware right?? well there's some impressive stuff out there....

- Kjaerhus Audio - Classic Line
- SimulAnalog - GuitarSuite
- Digitalfishphones - FishFillets,Endorphine and Dominion (though the site seems to be down right now)
- ProjectX (just discovered those myself but they're pretty good)
- SmartElectronix - almost everything

that should get you started and keep you busy for a while...

kind regards
mully

For a very good priced commercial solution, check out
Spin Audio essential FX collection which includes a good delay, a great universal Chorus/flanger/phaser/ER-Reverb-whatever-Mangling thing and one of the best reverbs you can get and will (in a month or so) include additionally an EQ and some more modulation Effects.
It is priced 99 Dollars - i got it and dont regret one penny, these are among the most professional FX available and have a warm and clear basic sound and i am sure that the EQ and the upcoming modulation fx will be among the best.
Demos are at www.spinaudio.com.
