The new mastering plugin from qSonic looks almost too good to be true for those of us whose mastering technics leave little to be desired (that's me)... so why hasn't someone thought of this before? http://www.qsonic.de/sonicOne.html dano

maybe a secret build into mastering plugs without mention it / Lex

Kinda sounds BBE Sonic Maximizer-ish, or Aural Exciter-ish. Doesn't sound 'new' though. I'm sure The developer will pop on and prove me wrong, but hey.

I like the Fort Knox-like limitations on the demo. It appears to be a "magic bullet", but you can't expect to hear much aside from a beep every 6 seconds & dithering. 20 uses & it's ded..But close to $200 cleans that little mess up...where do I sign up?
They have man..don't you remember Doctor Lempke's Rattlesnake Tonic & Cocaine-Cola & Yohimbe & Laudenum(actually, can anybody get me some of this last stuff??)

...has anyone given it a try?...I am having some technical difficulties right now and will not be able to give it a go until tomorrow.

Why? Sounds like a waste of time with restrictions like that.

| Sickle666 | Posted: 13th April 2004 19:55 | |||||
now, now..don't overlook it's huge potential as a low-fi destructo unit..at least for 20 uses anyways..
*developer* don't take me seriously

Har har!
Destructo applications notwithstanding, this tool does not inspire much confidence in me with phrases like "intelligent adaptive spectral psychoacoustic shaping" alone (read: "we implemented some DSP assumptions that we think might sound good. Tweak the "Warm" or "Bright" controls if you feel psycho-brave.") Can we get some nice "before & after" mp3s with DIFFERENT types of material?

You're going to fall for terms like that??
Hell.. I've got a synthesiser that acts like an impact hammer each time you strike it. It makes some of the sweetest lushest sounds and if you drop it into water, it sounds like a sonar going off... yep.. its a tuning fork...

you guys..don't be so cruel..somebody spent at least 25 minutes in photoshop designing that GUI..have some heart, will ya??

....some sample mp3's would be nice.
Tough crowd! Maybe the developer will jump in and give us a little insight. dano
| DevonB | Posted: 14th April 2004 08:48 | |||||
How about the developer jump in and give a realistic demo? I'm so sick of bullshit demos that aren't demos, and more an insult to the average user. Devon

yes I agree..this is clearly a wow-factor market offering. But, before you succomb to it's radical elimination of good old fashioned work, you might like to try this one first; it's free & has virtually the same effect. It even has a cult following to substantiate it's claims!!

sickle666...Not quite sure I see the connection between a Room Simulation Plugin and a spectral enhancer thingy?
DevonB...I don't think these guys have done anything wrong....(other than charge too much)... but I do hear what you are saying. Perhaps they should have done a little more market research. dano

Holy shit! tough crowd is right! of course that being said, I wont bother trying it because the ridiculous demo restrictions would make it impossible to concentrate on teh sound for any meaningful lenght of time without getting totally pissed off. I really don't understand why more companies don't do it like superwave, or EFM.. Fully functional for a given length of time, so that you really know how much you want it. I bought eXT finally, but it took me so damn long because I could never come back to what I had been working on. I had to start fresh every time, and so I gave up and bought something else at the time. Just an example of how one could be put off by demo restrictions even from the best app in the world.

Ozone isn't bad either with audio drop out every 45 seconds. Least I can hear the difference with that. 6 seconds and a beep? Ya, you can kiss my <beep> for that.

You missed the point entirely..it's not a room simulator, it's an april fool's joke. To be blatently obvious: My reference to the room simulator is to say that they have the same effect equaling none, or to be COMPLETELY honest, nothing of REAL value. Does that clarify? I didn't mean to be oblique.
