AuthorTopic: Amplitube problem (Cubase SX2) HELP!!
Phaedo

I hope someone can help with this one, because it's completely messing up every last one of my songs (at just the point I need to get them finished, as well Mad )

It happened sometime in the last week (I can't I can't think of anything that could have caused this). When I choose Amplitube from the list of plug-ins, it doesn't open. It's in the list, but loading a song with Amplitube in it says "can't find plug-in".

So, basically, my guitar amplifier in on the fritz.

GAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Please help. Smile

If you are on win XP I guess you could try the 'add/remove programs' in the control panel Idea

select Amplitube there and click the 'change remove'
button , that will give 3 options ...

1. modify
2. repair
3. remove

try the repair option Exclamation

The only other suggestion I would say is .....
back up any amplitube presets you have created
and then uninstall and then reinstall amplitube .

The existing authorization code should still be
valid to use again , find it in your IK user area
if you have no record of it .

Have you looked under plug-in information?

Sometimes if SX gets an error it de-selectes the VST in the plug-in information.

If you "re-check" the Vst it comes back.

I had this problem with a Vst a while back and it drove me nuts....

Thank you for everyone's suggestions. I've tried them all... Sad

I did e-mail tech support, although they haven't got back to me. On the other hand, I understand the problem a lot better now. The short version is that the problem isn't Amplitube. The problem is the project file I'm working on. I've been de-archiving songs for polishing, and I think Amplitube was in a different location at the time, or it was a different version.

So, the question becomes: how do I fix a corrupt Cubase project file?

Anyway, there's a longer version of this at
http://losingside.blogspot.com/ if anyone's interested. Problem still not solved, but at least Amplitube is working.

Spoke too soon. The work-around only works if EnergyXT isn't registered.

Hmph. Deleting selected tracks seems to sort it. Weirdly, not the guitar tracks. Sad

Now all I've got to do is recapture the magic, re-mix the F'er...

Why delete tracks Confused
did you try my work around above Question

The object of moving the tracks is to trick SX
into thinking they are brand new tracks Wink

have you ever opend a cubase file in a text editor Wink

Well, the joke is that the tracks I deleted weren't actually in use, they were just junk. If they had been important, I was going to glue them and transfer them into the new, working, project file.

I did try your suggestions (thanks), but I'm afraid they didn't help.

I did mess around with the project file in Notepad, and discovered the following:
1) It's a binary file (these days, it really should be XML)
2) It had three instances of the word "Amplitube" in it (which was the expected number).
3) Replacing the inserts with others (which could have been a pain, since there's no way of telling which insert it was) meant that the word "Amplitube" disappeared.
4) But it didn't fix the problem.

If the project file had been XML, I'd have probably been able to patch it up... Sad

It`s possible I think, that if when you created the project you had one version of amplitube that you now dont have.

You may have a different version now,and it`s looking for the old one that`s not there.

I had a similar prob with reaktor, allthough not the same prob as yours...

Ah yes, why to never upgrade anything.

I have a nasty feeling you're right...
