AuthorTopic: ...And more Amplitube presets

I saw Lady J's thread about Amplitube presets, and as I have programmed some too, I though that sharing those would be nice idea.

Here is a link
http://mmk.3dnet.co.yu/Presets.zip

Read txt file first, I have made those presets using kind of unusual sounding guitar so you may want to tweak them a little bit to your liking.
Presets are made according to my own taste, not trying to emulate famous guitarist’s sounds or anything like that; I am using them usually as a starting point for further tweaking.

Let me know if link is working ok, and how do you like those presets.

It seems there is an Amplitube presets season or something Very Happy

Glad you like them, really. Embarassed Very Happy I'll record short mp3 tomorrow so you can compare how it sounds here with my set up. I was kind of worried they will sound too distorted and with a too much high end for most people because my main guitar is really clean and defined sounding.

amplitube is designed for the guitar to go straight in the computer right. no preamp of sorts? i tried out lady j's presets and these, and they sound nothing like the demos. especially lady j's didnt sound nearly close to the demo mp3's. just wondering about other peoples setups using amplitube.

Thanks for the bump, Neroz! Smile

You need to have some sort of DI box, unless your card has some kind of "instrument input".
What audio card do you have, and how you are connecting your guitar?

im using an echo gina 24, was plugging the git right into the input with a 1/4" monster cable, i have an whirlwind director also but wasn't using, that should i?
Vervil
Posted: 9th June 2004 15:58
Yes, you should use it. It converts high impedance signal of guitar to low impedance signal that is more suitable, but the signal level will still be too low for going straight to line level in of your Gina. You need some small mixer with mic preamps or separate mic preamp. It has line level out you need for plugging to audio card.
Your signal chain would be: Guitar - Whirlwind(DI box)-Mic preamp/mixer-Audio card

Or:
If you play guitar live, maybe you have some kind of guitar processor, even cheap zoom shit can work, you can try to turn all effects off, and use it that way, as a sort of preamp.

I hope this helps Smile

Sorry, I just checked their site

http://www.whirlwindusa.com/dirbox.html
, and Director is not what you need.
I thought it is a DI box, but it isn't. You need something like Hotbox (on their site)

You can check M-Audio and Behringer DI boxes, if you need cheap one.

thanks for the suggestions vervil, maybe ill my art tube eq that has some gain on it, or just buy a friggin amp Razz
Lady J

My suggestion is to go with as clean a signal as possible into your sound card. Get a cheap DI box. One not even buy one new. These things are virtually indestructable (they're built to be kicked about on stage). so a used one will do quite nicely. Ebay was literally overflowing with them last time i checked.

It pretty much goes without saying, but I rarely venture outside the Tracktion forum, so I don't know your level of familiarity with the guitar-- but each guitar will also cause the presets to sound differently.

What lunch money said is true. What kind of guitar do you have? What kind of pickups? As I said, i've test my presets with the following guitars

Fender Mexican made Stratocaster
B.C. Rich Mockingbird NJ
Les Paul Standard

all with the stock pickups.
miasch
Posted: 11th June 2004 11:44
fender mexican telecaster stock pickups, i already have a whirlwind director di box, so i think ill just pick up a cheap little mixer to give it the extra oomph
Lady J
Posted: 11th June 2004 23:13
A telecaster will sound different than the guitars above.

Hey I got a question for you guys using 98SE and amplitube. I remember something about amp. was having problems on 98se, is this the case for you all, or was it just the demo having the problems? (I want to say it was sampletank and amp. demo had problems, but that was a while ago)

The buy one get one free deal is way to tempting to pass up, so 98SE users let me know please Very Happy

Can anyone send the presets to me by e-mail, please?

amplitube will sound much better with a good preamp/d.i in between the guitar and the soundcard.

Just in case:
Zip with amplitube presets is now available in Banks/patches section of K-V-R, so download it from there if you need it.
