There's some really nice effect chainers out there, but does anyone of them support directx, aswell as VST?
Those I've seen are only VST.. Regards, Blue Days.

The one that does that I know of is Console.

What are you using that's DirectX only?
| Sepheritoh | Posted: 7th June 2004 08:22 | |
That is making VSTs into DXs, which makes it not chainable. I suppose you can still load a chainer that is VST into Sonar by DX-ing the chainer and then load the VSTs into the chainer. That still does not allow chaining of DXs. What we now need is something that can VST-ing DXs, or on the other hand, there are so few DXs left, other than the ones included in Sonar bundled that it does not really matter.

Any version of Cubase will do, no?

Thanks for the replies.
whyterabbyt: What is Console? I haven't heard of it before. I'd definately appreciate a vstplugin that can chain both vst and directx plugins. Does it do this? phaedo: Various!

v-stack from steinberg also chains vst/dx (and vsti as well)
| Blue Days | Posted: 7th June 2004 08:44 | |
Can V-stack be used with Logic audio? (pc)
| plastique | Posted: 7th June 2004 08:48 | |
it's standalone , if it's useable with logic i don't know i'm afraid (it works with Cubase SX via something called System Link)

Ok, thanks.
Doesn't seem to be a demo for V-stack though. Well, I'll try Console now.

I use console, and it's solid, stable and works well.
Much more than that, well, just try it... DSP

Seems to work quite well.
You wouldn't happen to know if there's a way to finetune the parameter settings? Like a "fine" keyboard modifier.
| duncanparsons | Posted: 7th June 2004 10:47 | |
errr... no (as in I wouldn't know!)
It supports MIDICC for modifying parameters, and to do so you have to enable the CC button in the top right of the plugin window. (It's in the online help file). more than that.. couldn't rightly say.. I use it within hosts for special effects routing. I don't have a MIDI keyboard, just a plain old piano roll! Ask on the support forum, there's no sign up, just post. DSP

Maybe I should try importing presets..

Does anyone know of a chainer that works as an insert effect? Xlutop Chainer does not and though the new MultiFXVST does, I wasn't able to swap the order of plugins in it without getting unusable results (odd latency/delay issues).
Nuendo does not have swappable inserts, so I'm looking for something I can use as a workaround until Steinberg implements that feature.

...console works as a VST/VSTi/DX/DXi as well as standalone...
You choose! DSP | ||
| Blue Days | Posted: 7th June 2004 11:44 | |
It worked!
Think I'll have to shell out the $50 for this one.. Regards, Blue Days.

Oops -- I was wrong! Xlutop Chainer works just dandy as an insert! This is potentially a *huge* boon to my Nuendo workflow.
Cubase/Nuendo users take note!

Ok, have my registered Console now.
But it wasn't obvious to me how to save a console patch. I tried the fileicons, but I don't get any requesters on filename etc..

Hmm works in the standalone version..

ok, needed to restart sequencer after entering the key. |
