I'm using FL studio to run Trilogy since trilogy needs a sequencer to run. I'm sequecing with a MPC4000. Is there a way to chenge the midi in channel in FL studio?
It doesn't matter what midi channel that I use on the MPC4000, it only sends to midi channel 1 within FL studio. I'm guess that FL studio is set to midi omni by default. Is there a way to change this. When I use ABsynth alone with the MPC, I can get different midi channels work with no problem. Thanks DL

I guess I am confused somewhere....why aren't you using fl studio for the sequencing side? Are you not using a midi keyboard/controller??
For trilogy, you just copy the .dll over to wherever you have your vsts, then load trilogy up and jam away. (quantized notes if desired) In any event, welcome to kvr

(mod please move to host area also)

I want to use my MPC4000 to sequence, but Trilogy will not run without a host sequencer. I'm using FL Studio for this purpose

I understand what you're trying to do, it just doesn't make 'sense' to me I guess. If studio has a BUILT in sequencer, and you simply load trilogy and play notes (or draw them in if you don't use a controller) why are you wanting to use ANOTHER sequencer?

Same reason someone wants to use another host. FL Stuiod is pretty easy to get going, but I'd rather use Cubase to write my songs with because it's easier to me. Same goes for Logic. If he's used to his sequencer, I'd say go for it. Devon

Brice, some people like to use hardware sequencers.
the MPC does groove like a mofo. hi

you have a few options; none of them good if you are hell-bent on using FL for this. Im not sure what your need is exactly, as there are some workarounds for the way FL behaves to MIDI, but simultaneous remote control of several MIDI channels on a VSTi is not one of them.
FL "strips" (removes) the MIDI channel from input data. It uses this internally for some FL features (as seen in the MIDI options) but none of these are useful to you. You can control a different (*single*) MIDI channel of a multichannel VSTi by using the "MIDI out" generator as an intermediate: 1) create MIDI out generator 2) set its port to an unused port (e.g. port 10) 3) set the port on your VSTi (top corner) to same (10). now you can set the desired MIDI channel on the MIDI out device. fun.

thanks for the help bitcrusher
If I didn't use FL studio for this purpose is there another host that will run trilogy and allow me to change midi channels. I'm looking for a program that will be easy on resources. I just figured FL would be less of a strain then say logic or cubase Thanks

There are quite a few hosts out there that do just what you're looking for and not much else... usually called a Plugin Chainer or VST Rack or something like that. Things like V-Stack. I've never tried any so I don't know about MIDI capability or CPU usage. If I were you I'd check out energyXT.

Man, if you would have ever used hardware, you would know why!

Energy Xt, Chainer, Forte... look for VST "racks"... you will vastly prefer that to a host, and will benefit from a faster response. An MPC and a computer for sounds and effects does indeed make a lot of sense... |
