I've had trouble with a few plugins exhibiting denormal behavior lately (CPU spiking to 100% after a project is stopped). Tho this can usually be fixed by removing the plugin or using a normalizer plug like Digital Fish Phones' Normalizer, I'd prefer to know before I use a plug whether or not it's going to exhibit this kind of behavior on my system.
Does anyone know of a "tester" app that can determine whether or not a plugin suffers from this problem? Or is there a list of plugins that people have found to exhibit this behavior? Either one would save a lot of headaches.

1) Report denormal issues to the developer. Every denormal issue Iv'e reported has been corrected, and believe me, that's quite a few times.
2) If the DigitalFishphones removes your denormal with a VSTi, it ain't the VSTi. Now it does work for VSTfx, as long as you put it in the chain before the erring effect. 3) Which plugin do you think has denormals? Devon

Think I've done this in every case.
Actually, I should've specified: I've only had this problem with effects, and not just VST effects... DX, too.
A little embarrassing to admit this first one, but... RGC Audio's Reverb (hey, I like it!) and Scuzzphut6. That's about it for now, anyway. Anything else I've used that's given me grief I've long since forgotten about. Usually pretty easy to replace a buggy plug with something better, but I love ScuzzPhut6 and have a strange crush on RGC's simple little verb.

Never be embarrassed about what you like. I stopped giving a shit years ago. Devon |
