What are the options on gate effects?

(What I'm really trying to ask is how the Smiths gated that guitar, I keep trying but something is askwed.) Question

FloorFish is part of the FishFillets package and that works great.

if you're talking about the intro to "how soon is now" then that was done with the tremolo on Johnny Marr's amp.

You can achieve something similar with my plugin scuzzphut6 - play with the attack and decay controls. The link is in my sig.

you could also try NiallM's NDCTrem plugin.

finally, there are some midi based gate plugins that could do the job, too. there's one comes as part of cubase, for example.
