First off , many thanks, I have been looking for this for some time. When I insert it as a master effect in Cubase 5.2 I get extreme distortion in the right side of the EQ. Bypassing it solves . THe left channel seems fine. CPU use is very acceptable. Like the gui just smaller if you can get to it; maybe some horizontal lines across each band for relative comparisons . I hope you get this working well. Great work so far!
| hjack | Posted: 10th July 2004 10:02 | |||||
| Scotty | Posted: 10th July 2004 10:25 | |||||
Yes, it is working now in both channels and the lines are helpful. Two things to make this really useful. Obviously appreciating everything done to this point It would be good to have an LED indicator for the master gain control like you have on the individual bands. The green is pretty bright, how about a muted red with a little thicker line ( one extra pixel width). I think a flatter fader design with a drop shadow would be more effective and the background black could be texturized. (These are not important but it may look more professional). Not sure if possible with synth-edit, can the bands respond to a sweeping mouse gesture across the bands with the mouse button in Anyway, if this is as far as you take it, I truly appreciate the plug-in as it is. Great work! -Scotty.

31 bands eh, hmm, sounds like a lot to me. Do i really need all those?
I was quite hapy with BASS/TREBLE on my stereo in 1980, now i just use SOURCE DIRECT. 31 bands of EQ on each channel, plus one on each SEND, one on EACH BUS and one on the MASTER channel. Sounds like an EQ too far for me. Is it any good?
| t-willy | Posted: 10th July 2004 12:16 | |||||
i was wondering the same thing. i thought 10 band was a lot, but wow!!! guess if you're a tedious tweaker then this things for you. lates t-willy
| Ronny Pries | Posted: 10th July 2004 12:24 | |||||
31 bands are often used for modelling a sound and during mastering. when working with hardware i'm still a huge fan of klark tekniks dn-300h on kicks and other drums, it's way easier to get some unordinary results as if using 3-4 bands parametric eq's - you can simply alter the source faster in a drastic way.
undercore: 60 bands? YEAH - GO FOR IT! ronny

| 7XL | Posted: 10th July 2004 12:51 | |||||
When you move the right side controls the left channel controls don'r respond, but if you move the left channel the right channel does respond.
What a special bug. | ||||||
| hjack | Posted: 10th July 2004 12:58 | |||||
forgot to add the "readme" file when link is on , for now , itīs only possible to control with the the first line of faders , the left ones ...

<sigh>
.. you making me feel nostalgic ... of an age i never lived ... can you tell me one thing from that photo Ronny ? wich one of the 31 faders is at the zero ?
| Ronny Pries | Posted: 10th July 2004 13:19 | |||||
eh, uhm - i don't know - it's (c) by google, too bad not mine
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 10th July 2004 13:27 | |||||
I think you need to lighten the face; the black is just too much contrast, maybe like an 85% grey would be easier on the eyes.
Also, the sliders 'stick' alot, but I notice many SE creations have that problem. Is it like a graphic update bug or something? Why do so many SE plugs do that? It's very annoying, & one of the things that hold me back from really enjoying SE work.. I DO like this alot though, keep at it!
| hjack | Posted: 10th July 2004 13:47 | |||||
thanks Ronny sickle666 ... iīll may start working a new appeareance , but donīt keep counting with it for a near future ... "Also, the sliders 'stick'..." "Why do so many SE plugs do that?" i donīt know , maybes some problem "ununsolvable" ( ...?) for this present , or some already on Jeffs "to do" list ... or even some of mine and other developers "slip" , who couldnīt realise yet of "That" feature that allows users not to commit such mistake ... ... glad youīre enjoying sickle666

Hey man, I spent a couple of minutes in photoshop messing with the GUI. It's a bit choppy, but it illustrates what I meant by softening the graphics somewhat. I did this very quicky, so no points for tidiness, but you get my idea. I left one of the two fader rows kinda normal to contrast bewtween the two. I have the photoshop file if you want to see what steps I used, I'll e-mail it to you. Anyways, here's what I did:
One other thing I noticed is the knobs need more fluid movement, but I can't help there If you have questions about what I did, just private message me. cheers.

Nice job on the dual 31 Undercore.
Main thing I can see is no seperate main out sliders. I'm kinda partial to my Ashley GQX-3102 Stereo 31-Band
| snooky | Posted: 18th July 2004 03:23 | |||||
wohoo, that looks way better than undercores original. However, instead of a "wooden" background, why not a brushed aluminum to go with those pretty lights. And insteade of green lines, make them neon blue and you will have one techno looking EQ!!!!!!!
| christianmusicmaker | Posted: 18th July 2004 03:38 | |||||
Well done undercore keep it going if you can!

One request though some presets... or have I missed them? Actually two...any alternative skins to use? Maybe a dark or lighter blue? Please keep it up!!!

ahhhhhhhhh....thats sweet looking!!!!!!
edit: perhaps the blue lines could "glow" a little more... A lighter blue perhaps? Also, perhaps the faders could be darker? great work so far!
| Lunch Money | Posted: 19th July 2004 07:14 | |||||
Presets will be a great addition, whenever you get around to them. I have to admit, it feels like a lot of work to tweak all those sliders from scratch!
<jeez... I must be the laziest ass ever born> Greg
| christianmusicmaker | Posted: 19th July 2004 07:19 | |||||
undercore thats great! Even better than I thought it would be! Just Great! Now for those presets... Thanks for all your efforts and well done.
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 19th July 2004 08:36 | |||||
looks good, but the faders need a better seperation from the background. Maybe a darker drop shadow. And the brushed metal could be a bit more brushed; I have a good photshop action for that I can send you if you need it.
cheers | ||||||
| christianmusicmaker | Posted: 19th July 2004 08:51 | |||||
Yes the faders are a bit difficult to see... wow undercore you have small community developing around you already!
| hjack | Posted: 19th July 2004 10:23 | |||||
wow guys resuming than ... - a brighter/glowing blue ... was thinking on iZotopeSpectron kind of Blue ... http://www.kvr-vst.com/i/b/spectron.jpg - the faders darker or more "edgier" ...
erm , would you mind to do it sickle , as you did previously with its main skin ? ... iīm a "square" with Photoshop ... too many tools and not enough knowledge ! - and presets ... iīm shure you all already notest , that when presets are changed all parameters are answering ok but , the "circuit" isnīt ... thatīs one of the reasons why presets werenīt added yet too ... this will be the next feature to be fixed
wow , indeed thanks a lot guys
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 19th July 2004 10:28 | |||||
what I could do if you want to send me the original photoshop file with layers intakt (!) is do a better skin than what I ripped from this thread & you'll have all the layer effects that I used there for you to inspect & I can include the actions that I used for them.
That way, you have a reference to build on for further works of your own. I'm no expert, but I do think I can take it one step further for you. Once you see how someone else does it, it's much easier for you to do on your own. ciao

| GiddyAunt | Posted: 19th July 2004 11:26 | |||||
OK so the GUI is a trifle large, but I really
find Graphic EQs useful, so I'm very happy to see another one. BUT.... ( you knew that was coming )... Giving it a quick test, something seems a little odd. taking the 20K slider down around half way affects frequencies down into the 1-3Khz range. Obviously the bands will overlap but that seems a little extreme The Kjaerhus EQ in contrast hardly affects the 1-3Khz range despite being only a 7 band EQ. Has anyone else noticed this? GA
| Sicklecell666 | Posted: 19th July 2004 11:30 | |||||
where's your Q setting? Isn't that supposed to narrow the bands' frequency? I dunno, I'm no EQ expert I haven't noticed that, but haven't really used it much either.
| hjack | Posted: 19th July 2004 11:33 | |||||
didnīt checked it yet ... but , maybe youīre pushing too high its Q ...
... or maybe a small bug iīll check it
| christianmusicmaker | Posted: 19th July 2004 12:34 | |||||
undercore here is some feedback from Al at the Sonar forum, good interest from many but a few bugs maybe... I found a weird bug there.. i'm using directixer to wrap it .. i doesn't take much cpu cycles and it plays (almost) well BUT the interface is very slow .. i got to try cakewalk's adapter to see how it is there . i said "almost" about how it plays because Sonar becomes much less responsive (and has a delay until playback starts )as soon as i load this plug , again - using directixer . With the new version the faders are hardly moving (fine resolution now..of 100 steps.. but its very slow ) .. it made the existing problems much worse.. its time to try the other adapter now it COULD be also a setting in the aud.ini ... maybe . could be anything like "ZeroFillMethod= " or "ExtraPluginBufs=" here . OTHER plugs work ok.. no problems at 2.9 ms latency . Update : no problems with the faders now ( using cake's adapter ) but Sonar still gets slow .. i takes too much time ( half a sec ) until it starts playing . no cpu stress .. its just something with this plugin .
| hjack | Posted: 19th July 2004 13:27 | |||||
wow , how did the 31BandEq got into SonarForuns ???
thanks christianmusicmaker iīll have to check carefully whatīs going on , but since i donīt use Sonar nor any vst to directx adapter , i yet donīt have a clue about GiddyAunt report on a probable bug , well , it is working ok here , it may really be related to Q amount ... but let me know if still with problems . now ... i removed all previous versions due to a major bug , found that wasnīt mentioned until now faders had already a little graphic tweak too 31BandEqSmV5mindless.zip enjoy
| MotuMan | Posted: 19th July 2004 14:52 | |||||
I tested the 666 version with a analyzer running and found no problems with 20k.
I have encountered no delays in playback using Cakewalks vst adapter either. It takes a little longer to intialize but other than that all is well here. Big thanx for the "other" master slider! Love the updates!

wow.. that looks good to me 31 bands are a lot and thats what i need well there is another thread about removing samplerate artifacts. maybe you could think about a parametric setting at your eq? http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50273&sid=8991f012aa6f3d5 f0599c61db0ccf763

hi guys thanks ... for liking it so it was really you cmusicmaker , on the SonarForum , thanks !
well , i am one of those that , the most great layout we can have , the better sounding will be ... trying to work hard on its gui ,and iīm "open" for volunteers
... first it was commented on the possibility of having not 31 but 62 bands ... so iīve been seriously thinking about it ... but now youīre asking for a perfect 31 bands parametric eq ? wow , i need to check my availability for the next months ! ... whoīs going to be the funny one next , asking for the 62 bands parametric eq ? ... tho , it would be a Challenge for now , working the layout , and fixxing it for some presets thanks again
| farlukar | Posted: 20th July 2004 12:49 | |||||
Well.. a mind-controlled eq that automagically changes the sound to my liking, would that be possible?
| hjack | Posted: 20th July 2004 12:57 | |||||
farlukar , i like the autoMagically idea iīll se what i can do , but donīt keep counting with it ... iīm allways very occupied thanks
| PHOBIE | Posted: 20th July 2004 13:18 | |||||
sorry about the parametric question. I am not a developer and i donīt know how much work such thing takes. I only see frequncy values on top of the ui which i want to change however i like the functional interface. ther donīt have to be superdupa designeffects. Design has to be clear.. btw: i still prefer atari software over pc-soft sometimes, just because itīs more intuitive.

| christianmusicmaker | Posted: 21st July 2004 05:57 | |||||
The presets would be great but I think the ablility to save our own presets as we use it would be better if it is causing you too much trouble to include presets now. I am sure if you have come this far already you will be able to also add presets in a later build at some stage . No worries
