First off , many thanks, I have been looking for this for some time. When I insert it as a master effect in Cubase 5.2 I get extreme distortion in the right side of the EQ. Bypassing it solves . THe left channel seems fine. CPU use is very acceptable. Like the gui just smaller if you can get to it; maybe some horizontal lines across each band for relative comparisons . I hope you get this working well. Great work so far! Very Happy

Yes, it is working now in both channels and the lines are helpful. Very Happy

Two things to make this really useful. Obviously appreciating everything done to this point Very Happy

It would be good to have an LED indicator for the master gain control like you have on the individual bands. The green is pretty bright, how about a muted red with a little thicker line ( one extra pixel width). I think a flatter fader design with a drop shadow would be more effective and the background black could be texturized. (These are not important but it may look more professional).

Not sure if possible with synth-edit, can the bands respond to a sweeping mouse gesture across the bands with the mouse button in Question You could then draw a curve with the mouse going back and forth across the interface.

Anyway, if this is as far as you take it, I truly appreciate the plug-in as it is. Great work! -Scotty.

31 bands eh, hmm, sounds like a lot to me. Do i really need all those?

I was quite hapy with BASS/TREBLE on my stereo in 1980, now i just use SOURCE DIRECT.

31 bands of EQ on each channel, plus one on each SEND, one on EACH BUS and one on the MASTER channel. Sounds like an EQ too far for me.

Is it any good? Confused

31 bands are often used for modelling a sound and during mastering. when working with hardware i'm still a huge fan of klark tekniks dn-300h on kicks and other drums, it's way easier to get some unordinary results as if using 3-4 bands parametric eq's - you can simply alter the source faster in a drastic way.

I think you need to lighten the face; the black is just too much contrast, maybe like an 85% grey would be easier on the eyes.

Also, the sliders 'stick' alot, but I notice many SE creations have that problem. Is it like a graphic update bug or something?

Why do so many SE plugs do that? It's very annoying, & one of the things that hold me back from really enjoying SE work..

I DO like this alot though, keep at it!

Hey man, I spent a couple of minutes in photoshop messing with the GUI. It's a bit choppy, but it illustrates what I meant by softening the graphics somewhat. I did this very quicky, so no points for tidiness, but you get my idea. I left one of the two fader rows kinda normal to contrast bewtween the two. I have the photoshop file if you want to see what steps I used, I'll e-mail it to you. Anyways, here's what I did:

One other thing I noticed is the knobs need more fluid movement, but I can't help there Very Happy

what I could do if you want to send me the original photoshop file with layers intakt (!) is do a better skin than what I ripped from this thread & you'll have all the layer effects that I used there for you to inspect & I can include the actions that I used for them.

That way, you have a reference to build on for further works of your own. I'm no expert, but I do think I can take it one step further for you. Once you see how someone else does it, it's much easier for you to do on your own.

OK so the GUI is a trifle large, but I really
find Graphic EQs useful, so I'm very happy to see
another one.

BUT.... ( you knew that was coming )...

Giving it a quick test, something seems a little
odd.

taking the 20K slider down around half way affects
frequencies down into the 1-3Khz range. Obviously
the bands will overlap but that seems a little
extreme

The Kjaerhus EQ in contrast hardly affects the
1-3Khz range despite being only a 7 band EQ.

Has anyone else noticed this?

undercore here is some feedback from Al at the Sonar forum, good interest from many but a few bugs maybe...

I found a weird bug there.. i'm using directixer to wrap it .. i doesn't take much cpu cycles and it plays (almost) well BUT the interface is very slow ..
i got to try cakewalk's adapter to see how it is there .

i said "almost" about how it plays because Sonar becomes much less responsive (and has a delay until playback starts )as soon as i load this plug , again - using directixer .

With the new version the faders are hardly moving (fine resolution now..of 100 steps.. but its very slow ) .. it made the existing problems much worse.. its time to try the other adapter now Wink

it COULD be also a setting in the aud.ini ... maybe . could be anything like "ZeroFillMethod= " or "ExtraPluginBufs=" here .

OTHER plugs work ok.. no problems at 2.9 ms latency .

Update : no problems with the faders now ( using cake's adapter ) but Sonar still gets slow .. i takes too much time ( half a sec ) until it starts playing .
no cpu stress .. its just something with this plugin .
hjack
Posted: 19th July 2004 13:27
wow , how did the 31BandEq got into SonarForuns ???
Smile

thanks christianmusicmaker
iīll have to check carefully whatīs going on , but since i donīt use Sonar nor any vst to directx adapter , i yet donīt have a clue Confused ...

about GiddyAunt report on a probable bug , well , it is working ok here , it may really be related to Q amount ... but let me know if still with problems .

now ...
i removed all previous versions due to a major bug , found that wasnīt mentioned until now Embarassed ... so hereīs a new ( and the only )version at the moment ( several versions will be added , depending on customers needs Wink ) with the "work in progress" mindless skin ... independent main out sliders , already available
faders had already a little graphic tweak too

The presets would be great but I think the ablility to save our own presets as we use it would be better if it is causing you too much trouble to include presets now. Wink

I am sure if you have come this far already you will be able to also add presets in a later build at some stage . Cool

No worries Cool

This one should give you the v7 version:
http://www.mindflood.net/jo/undercore/31BandEqSmV7.zip

This thing is really cool, but I seem to get faders and knobs jumping and jittering in the most horrible way? Anyone else experience this? They sure can be used, but their movement is far from smooth.
