can anyone please tell me is the hardware version of autotune a lot better than the software version (plugin), or its the same thing? I have the direct x plugin of antares autotune and I tried many vocals on it, they dont sound good. some parts in the vocal get unneccessary pitches which makes the vocal sound rubbish, and some parts of the vocal i want the autotune effect in a greater ammount. the autotune effect from antares plugin sounds like its computer generated, i listened to many professional mainstream tracks done by famous dj's, and the main difference i found in their vocals is that they're auto tune effect is very crisp. i also tried yamaha pitch fix plugin. ironically, it was a lot better than antares autotune but still the vocals dont get the "PRO" sound. i guess thats what the hardware version of autotune is for?

Same thing. Hardware has FX. You have those in DX and VST too.
Learn to use graphic mode. This is how professionals use Autotune You can call Antares support too!

well i went through the manual. i'm pretty good with the controls now, but for the pitch correction, am i supposed to know every pitch it displays on the graph, like "2B", "3C+", "3D", etc. i have no clue what each these stands for. i guess having a keyboard would help

The ATR-1a (the rack-mount) is useful for those "old-school" engineers and the way they work. It's also nice to have in a live setting (I've seen them in the racks of some "famous" artists). For all other uses, the software (especially in graphical editing mode) is the best option.
Yes, you do have to learn what notes are what, otherwise why are you tuning at all? Personally I'm less and less enamoured by Autotune these days as I've heard the future, and the future is Melodyne. Still, I use Autotune all the friggin' time since it's so fast to use now that I'm intimately familiar with all of the controls and quirks it has. But I still don't like that the formants don't stay locked when it does pitch correction (you'll get some "chipmunking" occasionally). Oh well, I guess I'll order Melodyne one of these days ... i kinda get the graphing now but i dont like the way you edit the vocal. like when you're editing and if you're mouse touches the border it would start moving around the surface, and the worst one for me is when edit and make a mistake you only undo 1 time and if you press automatic again it resets and puts automatic notes to the whole vocal which makes the other editing done gone. is there any way around this?

Are there any reasonable free autotune plugins for PC? |
