Haven't ever tried it, BUT--

Wouldn't using only the effected half of a stereo chorus do the trick?

I've been looking for this for quite some time.
I've found two: one called Jvib (I think), which is good but has a pretty severy latency problem, and there's a very nice one in the SimulAnalog GSuite.
The GSuite rox0rz immensely anyway, everyone should get it (and I'm no guitarist, either).

Not free, but SFXmachine is cheap (£60 last time I looked), has a great vibrato, and can do a hell of a lot more.
