Hi there tomg,
thanks for the link. I'm always interested in ampsims - especially if they come at a reasonable price...What's that dat file about? Is there any documentation for the plugin? And how long will the paypal offer last? I don't know if I'll have time for a thorough check the next two weeks.... Cheers Alex

I haven't gotten to test it extensively yet, but in order to get people hooked, you're going to need more presets. Just a friendly suggestion. Greg

Hi guys, I'm working on the documentation right now. Maybe a day or two. The $19.95 price will be good for two weeks. I know that presets are the current rage, frankly they are a great way to tweak a project. I've had this basic concept cooking for about 6 months, done 20 different skins and basically burnt myself out on it. There's this one really huge mother, all separate stompers and 3 pedals with a little amp, but I hated the size. In the end this is what I settled on. It's small and flexible. I may use the pedal-knob on a free wah or something even though I can't seem to do a decent wah and end up using a hardware crybaby most of the time. I basically had to release it or go nut's. I'd still be working on features, sounds and skins into next year or something. If your trial expires before you can make up your mind email me and I'll send you one that's good for another 15 days.
Quickly..... o Operation is left to right. Like a chain of effects on a pedal board. o The SubGen is treated like a separate instrument with it's own pan, level and tone color controls. It is mixed with the guitar chain at the master volume. o The entire sim can be switched out by using the Active/Bypass switch in the final output stage. o The Noise Gate control is basically a Noise-Decay control and the actual gating process is preset. This device is used to mask the noise generated by high-gain preamp stages by cutting the input stage off when it's not used. It's a natural for use around a crt computer monitors and florescent lighting. o The SubGen device is used to generate a signal that's an octave below the source. It's primarily used to play a bass tone that tracks the signal source. For best results use your neck pickup [ I know the patch says bridge, it was late.] and use your palm to mute the strings a little. Use the Sens. control to best match your guitar output. Pan and Volume controls the final mix at the Master Volume and Color varies the tone from smooth bass guitar tones to slightly harsher bass synth tones. o The Ring-Modulator is used to create metallic bell tones. The output is not all that musical, being the sum of the signal and Carrier frequencies. However it can be used for some really interesting effects and leads if you're careful with it. The Carrier control varies the frequency of a reference oscillator and the Mix controls, unlike a true ring modulator allows you to mix in the original signal to the output. The R. Mod is part of the signal chain and can be processed by all of the effects that follow in the chain. For fun radio frequency effects, automate or modulate the carrier control. o The OverDrive device simulates two 12AX7A preamp tubes in series. Use one for classic distortion and two to get to "11". Drive and Level controls for each tube. o The Filter is a 2 pole variable state type with it's Low and Bandpass outputs notched by the Color control. It can be used as a wah-wah by automating the Cutoff controls and cranking the Res control up. Basically used to put some tone on the Overdrive. o The Vibe device is a rotating speaker simulator or automatic wah. Speed is the modulation frequency, Width controls the range of modulation on the signal, Depth controls the mix of original and processed signals and Color controls the resonance. The phase switch changes the operational mode from rotating speaker to phase shifter effects. o Chorus - Doubles or thickens the signal by delaying the signal and the modulating it. Speed is the modulation frequency, Sweep controls the range of modulation on the signal, Depth controls the mix of original and processed signals and Color controls the feedback. o Flanger - Sweeps the signal in and out of real time to create swooshing jet sounds can also be used as a chorus device.Speed is the modulation frequency, Sweep controls the range of modulation on the signal, Depth controls the mix of original and processed signals and Color controls the feedback. o Delay - Creates reverb and echo effects. Delay controls the amount of time between the signal and the delayed effect. Decay controls the time it takes for the delayed signal to trail off. Depth controls the mix of original and processed signals. o Tone - Guitar tone network. Simulates the classic Bass, Mid, High and Presence controls found on most guitar amps. o Cabinet Simulator - Simulates the tones of various guitar cabinets. o Signal Volume and Pan - For the guitar signal. The SubGen has it's own dedicated controls. o Master Volume - Master Volume - No description available

Is the mouse pointer supposed to be here over the word "decay" on the delay section?

Or, he's curious about whether it's a SE plug or not.

Hi Tom,
I was pretty excited about your amp sim. I played with it and found it does a lot of cool things. I want to get in and buy it early but I think there is a bug in the overdrive section. There is a pinging like a zen monk with fingerchimes that seems to be associated with Tube 2. It doesn't show up on all the presets, but it does seem localized in the preamp tube settings. Am I crazy? Anyway, it's not a natural amplifier noise. Otherwise there's a lot the plug in has to offer. Let me know if you're going to fix it, I would like to be a customer.

I also tried your cool Rokman sim and liked it a lot. But I got some of the same artifact noise with it on heavy distortion settings. I'd actually like to use the Rokman thing too if it didn't have that darned artifact. On the RokmaN would you maybe consider adding a setting to the delay and mod effect switch that would bypass them both? I guess that might not be accurate to the real world Rman but it would be nice. Good stuff!

About those artifacts, could you post a reply?

Just listen here.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/7/rockmansoundmusic.htm This is coming soon ! Sure it will be at least 10x the price, but listen for yourself ! Files to compare with Amplitube and Guitar Rig are also there.

Sorry, but I really think you're overdoing it. Even more so as there's not even a demo of your plug available yet Hijacking other peoples threads isn't really good style IMHO. Niko

Yes, in general I agree...
But after I tried and heard this VST, then reading all this here, I could not resist...

Hey Tom
I deleted and reinstalled your vst zips and checked my ASIO driver for any problems and now I'm not getting any problem with the funny noise. Sorry! Best, NB
