Ok, I've tried looking it up on the instrument/Effect search but I am having no luck. I am looking for a filter that accepts incoving MIDI data to control the envelope generator. I need this because I want to process the signal from the synth (which has it's filter envelope turned off) before it goes into the filter.

well I'm not quite sure what you're asking for here, but it sounds like something that would be easy enough to knock up in synthedit. Of course then you'd have to use the filters available for synthedit, or make your own Wink

My success with Synthedit has been a lot more stunted than my music writing ability. In other words, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Synthedit.

You're in luck. Here is my latest project. I just added an ADSR envelope to the filter, and it works pretty well enveloping incoming signals.

I've tested it on raw, unfiltered oscillators, and I like the way it interacts with them, especially if the synth is velocity sensitive. But it has its own weird style, may not be what you're looking for.

It has some issues that need sorting out, as it is still in beta testing. Here's the thread for it. I'd like to hear what you think.

Does it trigger the envelope by MIDI or audio data?

There are quite a few synths that offer external input and can be used as filter boxes that way, like Pro-53, MinimoogV and certainly there are free ones, too. They all have envelopes to control the filter.

And - how could we forget this - Ohmforce Quadfrohmage and Antares Filter offer envelopes that can be triggered by MIDI notes. Don't know about PSP Nitro, but I'm sure it can do this as well.

Apparently that is a volume ADSR.

And about Quadfrohmage and Antares Filter - no money = no buy = no use to me
