I was wondering what you guys think the best eq for clearing up a mix (namely cutting highs and lows) is better and explain why. then what about boosting or mastering which are completely different stories ? i'm between voxengo gliss, waves q10, sony oxford, tc native and ozone. Other suggestions ?

I really like the freeware individual L&R stereo equalizer that can be downloaded for free here:

voxengo curve eq, and voxengo gliss eq -
both are huge bang 4 buck. Add a UAD-1 and you're laughin Kind regards Dave Rich

haven't heard the GEQ-7 torben will give it a go. Mausoleum (nice nic btw) i've got nyquist but don't considder it ideal for this situation as there is no clear display of what you're doing and i haven't managed to use it yet. Firium i doubt i can use for that due to it's latency as it uses FIR.

if youre using an EQ on the master outs (or in post-processing) to finish a mix then plugin latency shouldnt be an issue really ...

i'm mainly concerned with finding an eq for clearing up my mixes . As a mastering eq i usually use waves with slight amounts of gliss or tl eq for that musicality.

so youre talking a per-track EQ then i guess ???
for that i use either elementalaudio eqium or voxengo glissEQ (or the built in ableton EQ-four for quick-n-dirty stuff) slainte

I just don't know which one has the best slopes for the task and will be most transparent. if i would do built in i would just use logic's (i am on logic) ones but i know that not all IIR eq's are made the same

ja, smex eq can be much more useful if you can switch to non-gui mode and access hidden params.

Firium by far wins for any EQ purpose for me.
