I used the Premiere version a lot and built quite some patches. Waiting for the RT version to include the edit screen before I upgrade.

Actually I've used the "AdobePremier" version in MacOS prior to nine which is why I just went ahead and purchased the AU/VST version. Using the "AU" crashes DigitalPerformer 4.12. When using the AU or VST in Metro LX I don't get the "preview" "cancel" or "stop" buttons. Have you had any of those problems?

have you installed the dp 4.12 MAS/AU update? This improved AU performance and snaked out a few compatibility issues.

When I purchased/received my install CD it was already at version 4.12. (Upgraded in May 04 ) Should I download/run the updater?

There was a bug which would cause a crash when Applying SFX Machine RT in Digital Performer. This has been fixed in Digital Performer 4.52. There is a 4.52 updater on the motu.com web site. This version also fixes some GUI issues with the plug-in.
Also, note that we now have an online SFX Machine simulator, at http://sfxmachine.com/simulator . This is a Flash app that simulates each of the built-in presets. There are a number of limitations -- there's a single source sound file, you can't use the sliders, and the response is too slow for dial-up use -- but it's an easy way to try out the plug-in without having to download and install it first. Earl,
is there still a plan to add editing/creation of new presets to the SFX RT ?

We hope to do this eventually, but it's only in the planning phases. The GUI code from the Premiere-format version is not very portable, so this will be a big effort. Update, May, 2006: We finally finished the preset editor, which is part of our new SFX Machine Pro. We also added host tempo sync, an output limiter, lots of new presets, and a new look.
