So one of the basic Betabugs premise is to have as few gui controls as possible. I must admit, it is an attractive and fun concept. I look forward to trying out this new filter. | ||||||
| silicon/silicium | Posted: 15th October 2004 07:20 | |||||
is it mono out only or do I have a little bug in energy XT??? btw the filter sounds good (and the dist too, one more dist too my arsenal...)
---edit--- no bug in fact, I had a mono comp in my chain | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 07:20 | |||||
btw if someone wants to port it to MAC that would be nice.... please pm me or Paul | ||||||

Mully (or lunch if hes about the place),
Can i suggest that this is placed in the KVR archive? (You just need to fill in the details on the submit page). Also, what about sending Ben et al at KVR management an email to ask them if we can have a news topic about BB? Paul | ||||||
| rsmus7 | Posted: 15th October 2004 09:14 | |||||
just today as I'm not at home it comes mully could have brought it yesterday,dont ya. It is nice to see the little bugger bunch growing and be sure that I'll dl as soon as I'm at home tomorrow and let you know how I like it. But I'm biased anyway. I like it already, though I still dont know it. All the betabuggers keep up your good work. | ||||||
| pough | Posted: 15th October 2004 09:34 | |||||
Are there MIDI CC's mapped to the knobs or is it VST automation only? | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 09:53 | |||||
if you download the installer file there's a PDF manual..... explaining all that. but to cut a long story short: Crayon responds to MIDI CC's Cutoff 50 Resonance 51 Drive 52 LP on/off 53 BP on/off 54 HP on/off 55 NOTCH on/off 56 PEAK on/off 57 cheers, mully | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 10:12 | |||||
you can test it on your new collab tune | ||||||
| pough | Posted: 15th October 2004 10:26 | |||||
I did read the manual, but it was just the readme that came with the non-installer version! Thanks, mully! | ||||||
| Paul_FX | Posted: 15th October 2004 10:28 | |||||
Doh, new id forget something. Mully can you add that to the readme in the non installer version? Paul | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 10:30 | |||||
well yeah.... we wanted to keep the non-installer version as small as possible ...but we could include some more text in the read me *PRmode*but the installer version offers far more than that.... it has a very nice installation process which isn't only simple and clear... it's also nice to look at | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 10:30 | |||||
uploading new version right now.... should be up in a minute | ||||||
| Krakatau | Posted: 15th October 2004 13:21 | |||||
-But (discreetly undermeant) for cowards too ? -Very nice from you, i sincerely feel honoured ! .. but maybe you would have made more sense to consider the mac user instead ? | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 15th October 2004 13:28 | |||||
erm... I wasn't referring to you.... I thought you were referring to the name Betabugs when you were talking about buggy..... sorry if I offended you | ||||||
| Krakatau | Posted: 15th October 2004 13:41 | |||||
COME OOOOOOOOOOOON MAN !
...don't worry, just kidding, no offence at all, i WAS refering to the (beta)bugs ____________________________________ UGLY BEASTS THAT MAKES ME FREAK !!!!!!!!!!!!! | ||||||

| Paul_FX | Posted: 15th October 2004 15:30 | |||||
If there are any friendly mac dev's out there who are willing to help convert it we would be most grateful. I could in theory do it, but to be honest i HATE developing on mac (anyone whos used xcode will understand!!!) Paul | ||||||
| bitcrusher | Posted: 15th October 2004 18:18 | |||||
Only thing worse than xcode than making AU's in xcode. http://www.devine-machine.com/~steve/CrayonFilterVST-OSX.zip I disabled the WWW tag (sorry, Im too unskilled), but on the positive side its about 4 times smaller (I made the color pallete 8bit). -Steve | ||||||

| Lunch Money | Posted: 16th October 2004 00:44 | |||||
Nice!! That's the quickest port I've ever heard of. Ridiculous! (in a good way)
Speaking in as unbiased a way as I can (and as a non-coder, non-creator on the team!), when I was testing out the Crayon Filter, it really helped me understand what filters are and how they can be used. I wasn't much of a filter guy before, but between this and a couple other forthcoming plug-ins from BBA, I'm really getting into the swing of it. For some people, filters are second nature-- and for them, the sound and features of this one will still be a useful addition to their arsenal! For others, this might just be the perfect way to start using filters more regularly for both standard and 'creative' tasks! Greg | ||||||

Thx for releasing it with the source code guys! Especialy for the vstgui part of it. Great example for me to deal with the technical issues in my on future projects. Big thanks again. | ||||||

Nice plug guys, thanks!
Just reporting : the OSX version is working well in Plogue Bidule, and also as a wrapped VST in Protools. | ||||||

It was ya git... I've had some problems taming the bass. It's been out in beta form for a while - do some dev work and you can try it! I've also been grinding away getting the pitchshifter working, writing a LoFi HiFreq enhancer (FloFi, to come soon), plus a few other ideas. SVF should be dealt with soon, I've just got to clear my head first! Glad to see that you've been doing some updating! DSP | ||||||
| Paul_FX | Posted: 18th October 2004 02:45 | |||||
WOW!!! REally didnt think that would be done so quick! 1 question, did you use the source i provided? Now if i just hada mac to try it out Paul Ps - Mully, i trust you have made bitcrusher and Adrian from Apulsoft both members of betabugs? Obviously they should also get their names in the manuals and on the webpage | ||||||
| multree | Posted: 18th October 2004 04:54 | |||||
sure - they are already in the manual.... | ||||||
| scuzzphut | Posted: 19th October 2004 11:25 | |||||
ooooh. ya sarky bugger | ||||||
| Krakatau | Posted: 19th October 2004 11:42 | |||||
As we usually say in frensh "je suis sur le cul !!! " This has been done sooooo fast that in your place i would have fear the double-bang !!! ( by my side, too bad that i still didn't toe the line to X !!! ) **************************** I suppose this is the arrange window from the Logic pro 7 ? **************************** And now, maybe can come a very last version for the cowards...huh ? ( so to say that i feel glad that the bugs are still, and will ever stay, in Beta version ! ) |
