I just wondered - I've heard the Pulsar - it's great .. but the Powercore Compact is tempting...

I have 3 types of DSP cards, Pulsar, PoCo, and UAD1 but now, I mostly use UAD1 effects, use Pulsar for monitoring while recording and sometimes use PoCo. So as I stand now I could not tell you which ones are better but Pulsar does sound good.

Sometimes next year I plan to get a new DAW, and the only sound card I want is PULSAR; maybe even the 15 DSP version. That would be sweet. That would mean - 1 PoCo Firewire, 2 UAD1 cards and Pulsar 15DSP version. SWEET !!!

I don't know anything about the Powercore, but the ability to host SPL Transient Designer alone is worth considering the Pulsar for. Incredible plugin.

Effects-wise, I like the Pitchshifter, the aforementioned SPL Transient Designer, Softclip and STS-5000 (which is really a sampler, but excellent for trying out real-time timestretching of short vocal snippets).
