AuthorTopic: Blue Cat's directX plugins - what use?
Blue Cat Audio

Hello everybody,

as there has been more than 10 000 downloads on Blue Cat's music Software website last month, we were wondering how all these people who downloaded the free DX plugins use them. Is it daily? In a professional context? Just to try? Real time? Post-processing? On which instruments? Do you like the way they work? Are there things you just hate?

There has not been so many comments sent so that would be great if you could post here your thoughts, feelings and why not even your mp3s?

Thanks again for downloading...

I haven't tried them because I don't really use DX plugs that much, but I've been messing with em a little more these days, so I wanna check out what you got..I dig the idea of the envelope generation in the meter plug.

I like 'em! Very Happy BUT, haven't used them that much yet.
I believe I used your Flanger on one of the guitar tracks for my recent Gimme Shelter cover song. Very nice and distinctive tone. However it was in a very light singular mastering stage for a clip track, and just a light sprinkle at that. I have fooled with your Chorus and Peak Meter in a test kinda way, and want to use them soon too! HiHi

Like 100 monkeys in a room with typewriters, after 10,000 downloads - one of us is bound to use them full frontal in a hit sooner or later. Wink

I downloaded the Blue Cat Digital Peak Meter plug-in just to try it out. It's a very unique plug-in in that it is probably the only one I have used that outputs a track envelope into Sonar.

I think this type of plug-in can be interesting for other scenarios as well. For example, if level envelopes were generated for several critical frequency ranges, you could see a high-level view of the mix throughout the duration of a song.

Thank you for your feedback!

I hope that you play better music than monkeys though Wink. Anyway I'd be glad to hear the result of your creativity!

It's already in work! Very Happy

Well, this tune maybe deemed as 'made by a couple of monkeys'. Wink Not your average Stones cover, but then again - I'm not your average songwriter. Laughing Your effect is really subtle in the 'chorus' part, and I also overlayed about 3-4 guitars in there as well. But I hope you can appreciate it. Gave me that 'swirl' I was after atleast. Wink

The thread and link can be found here. Enjoy. Very Happy
