Hello...
I'm a new user of EnergyXT (marvellous software!). 2 questions: --------- 1. In a tutorial ( Multi-output configuration) at http://members.cox.net/rld23/XT_Help/EXT_HelpFS.htm I read that near the "new", "open", and "save" buttons, there is also a "setup" button. In my version of XT (1.24), I don't see this button. Why? I need to modify some midi parameters... ----------- 2. Is it possible to reduce XT on the task bar of Windows? Thank you in advance

1.: some things have changed over time - what settings are you precisely looking for?
2.: f12 | ||||

1 - 1.24 is the current 'release' version ... the latest public beta ( http://www.xt-hq.com/beta/ ) has the 'setup' button you ask about ... afair the older versions have drop down lists at the top for audio and MIDI settings
2 - covered (and thanks jens - i didnt know that either - (EDIT) not that it works here for me though) slainte

You can always use the 'Show Desktop' shortcut found by default in the launch bar. That's how I have always done it.

F11 also means from maximized returning to the last (non-maximized) size, so of course you can make it very small (and drag it to any border of your desktop) then maximize it and then just press f11 again for making it small, but that's not the same of course - sorry

oops, glad you pointed that out ...it didn't even cross my mind that the latest release version didn't have that button, I'll update the page to reflect the difference between 1.24 and 1.25 beta. In 1.24 as pHz says there is seperate dropdown selectors for both Audio and Midi. Just select each of your Midi ports one at a time and set them on or off. If you are using more than one incoming midi stream or controllers...Then you can right click on your 'Master In' and 'Add midi port'...the ports will be in order from left to right...the same order of your 'enabled' ports in the drop down list. nF

Thank you for your help! In fact, I would like to play sounds of vsti plugins in XT, from an other application (Quaderno, an "algoritmic/creation help" music software). I use a virtual midi cable to connect Quaderno to XT. So, I need to have the possibility to choose a different midi canal for each vsti plugin. How to do this?

Well...let's say you can use upto 8 'virtual' cables, right?(you will need to right click the 'Master in' inside EXT to add midi ports, make sure they are enabled in your setup) ...does Quaderno have a way to set a midi streams channel? If so that gives you 16 channels for each of the virtual cables(which you can route inside XT with the Midi chs component )...that's 128 instruments. If you need more you could use the midi patcher to setup some keyboard splits since your parts will probably not require a full 128 note range. Let me know if anything is unclear, and I'll try to help. nF

BTW, your not wrong about F12, in versions 1.23 and 1.24 F12 did minimize the window. But it has changed since 1.25 beta. nF

F12 is on vacation, will soon be back Elode, when you load a VST into eXT and open the VST editor window, you will see a box called 'RCh' on the toolbar. This is the receive channel for the VST and default is set to 'All'. Just change this value to whatever midi channel you want for each VST. For more complex routing, use the MIDI Chs comp. jorgen
