AuthorTopic: Bug?: Trig note forwarded by envelope to VSTi.

Hi,

(just for those that missed it when this was brought up in another thread)

Strange behaviour by envelope?:
1. You connect an envelope to a VSTi
2. Connect a midi part to the VSTi for the notes that the VSTi should play
3. Connect a midi part to the envelope (not to the VSTi) for trigging the envelope at the notes sequenced in that midi part.

When you start both midi parts I would expect the VSTi to play the notes sequenced in the midi part set up in step 2. I would also expect the envelope to be trigged by the notes sequenced in the midi part set up in step 3.
Instead, the VSTi plays all notes from both midi parts. The envelope trigs at the notes sequenced in the midi part set up in step 3, but it also seems like the envelope forwards the note information to the VSTi so it plays those notes as well.
Should the envelope really behave in this manor?

Any comments? Have I missunderstood how the envelope should work Smile?

Best regards,
Tomas

Hi elfan,

Yes the Envelope component passes note information through from it's input. Use a MidiPatcher component between the Envelope and VSTi to filter out the note messages. Just set the key range for C-2 to C-2 and velocity range for 0 to 0 on the port of the MidiPatcher you hook up to. Now only CC data will be passed to your VSTi.
