Hi,
Looking over the EnergyXTE demo. Very nice. I've tried it Standalone and as a VST in Tracktion. A few questions: 1. Is there anyway to change vst plugin presets (not individual parameters) via MIDI? Ideally I'd like to send a CC or Program Change value to a specific vst plugin inside EnergyXTE and have it switch to a different preset. So far I can't get this to work. Is it a limitation with the demo? 2. I looked at the FileMapper feature in the standalone version but could not get it to work. Is there a limitation with the demo regarding the FileMapper feature? Ideally it would be nice to send a MIDI Program Change into the Standalone version and have all the parameters for each plugin change together (like a global program change). (The autoloading of .ext files via PC is good but is overkill for me). Anyone doing this? Thanks,

taji,
1) you cant change vst presets via eXT, but if the VST supportds it, it should work. 2) the filemapper is for using midi to load .ext files, but the demo doesn't load... cheers jorgen

Well, can you add preset automation support? If the answer is no, let me try to persuade you 1. Preset automation allows you to treat EnergyXT as a midi controllable multi-effects unit. If implemented properly it allows for snapshot style automation via midi. 2. Automating multiple parameters per plugin can become tedious. By automating the preset, all the parameters can be changed on the fly with a single CC command. 3. The following plugin host environments support preset automation via midi - Console, DSound RT Player, Synthedit and maybe others, (Xlutop Chainer had also planned to implement it in the next version but the developer is MIA). Hope this is persuasive enough. |
