...just uploaded a new beta
- envelope tracks can be routed the same way as midi track - each envelope track has it's own cc - make a part, and use the in-track edit mode to edit envelope oh, and theres 2 new gui items (see default skin) 1) win_maximize 2) win_minimize Any questions, I'm right here ps: some windows may look a bit messy, gui editor, setup window, audio channels window. I'm on it jorgen

WwwHWHOOoOoOoOT! downloading... Edit: BTW, thanks for putting the CTRL+MouseWheel to zoom!! it's SO MUCH BETTER now! That.. alone, has made my day!
| scam_artist | Posted: 4th June 2004 09:23 | |||
oooh yeh!!!!! thanks jorgen! testing now...
| chagzuki | Posted: 4th June 2004 09:42 | |||
Aaargh - the zoom is the opposite direction to Tracktion -total confusion!!! Please make this user-configurable. Surely up should be zoom in anyway?
| scam_artist | Posted: 4th June 2004 09:48 | |||
another great step forward for energyXT!!! awesome addition to the feature list!
| Shifrin | Posted: 4th June 2004 09:57 | |||
OMG Shif. | ||||
| ModuLR | Posted: 4th June 2004 09:58 | |||
I just noticed that too... Mousewheel up should be zoom in, and mousewheel down should be zoom out.. or user configurable!
| chagzuki | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:01 | |||
This is looking awesome. Haven't tested it properly yet, but I notice that there's only cc but no midi channel - am I missing something? Midi channel is essential, and I think that not only to choose one channel but any number/combination of channels for each track.

i'm out of superlatives ...
been playing a while already , VERY impressed , only negative thing i could find is that copy/paste envelope data doesn't seem to work yet but this didn't stop me i'm going to test the other features later this evening

Hehe...nice update Jorgen - love the little strip on the side of each automation track that bounces along with the envelope Other really nice thing is that you can use the same automation track to automate multiple VSTis, just so long as they have their CCs mapped to the same value
| chagzuki | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:19 | |||
A bug: adding points to the right of the existing ones just resulted in the new points being added in the middle of the curve (no, not to do with my snap settings).
| scam_artist | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:22 | |||
I had no problems there. Just CTRL + click on part + ALT + drag to copy it, same as with Midi parts
| plastique | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:26 | |||
i know , this is working fine
| chagzuki | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:32 | |||
Yep, seems to be midi channel one only. Is there any routing that can change this, or is this just because of the beta status?
| scam_artist | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:32 | |||
plastique: ah cool, i understand you can't do that with midi parts yet either can you? I would also like to see this implemented
| plastique | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:47 | |||
it works already with midi parts: - right-click on the midi part you want to copy in the in-track view and choose 'copy' (or simply CTRL+C) - select midi track of choice - right-click on in-track view and choose paste (or simply CTRL+V) guess the explanation can be found in the ghosting of the midi parts ... (maybe envelopes can be ghosted as well
| scam_artist | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:50 | |||
well that just shows the holes in my knowledge of eXT
| plastique | Posted: 4th June 2004 10:56 | |||
another tiny thing i found : the seq comp doesn't remember folder settings (anymore ? i didn't use them yet to be honest ), or only partially ... i.e. i have two folders filled with tracks (midi + env) from which only one is filled after i open the file again after saving , where the other folder is empty and the tracks are unassigned .
also ,changing positions of tracks ('move up')doesn't seem to work with folder tracks in combination with normal tracks (maybe due to the first problem above ??) really nothing major though ...

I can't quite believe it, I was only thinking to myself today how cool it would be if you could have vector type automation curves, like logic only simpler. you've only gone an done it!!!! Absolutely top notch. Simply puts everything else to shame, especially steinberg's effort, and how long have they had to get that one right.
I'm blown away, great work.

Great job, Jorgen! Greatest respect A question though: I must be moron for not figuring this out Best regards, Tomas
| elfan | Posted: 4th June 2004 12:51 | |||
Aww, jeez! Just when I posted I saw the CC textfield and figured it out by myself Never mind then... But still, is it possible to let the envelope control plugin automation parameters (as in Logic/Cubase) or will it perhaps be possible in the future? Another thing: I think I agree with Chazuki (I think it was who mentioned it) regarding the selection of envelope midi channel. Let's say that you have an multitimbral VSTi, such as Halion, that you wish to control using envelopes. You write two different midi parts in the sequencer, assigning them two channel 1 and 2 and send them to Halion through port 1 from the sequencer (you could even send them on two different ports). Now, you want to control three different midi cc:s, two of them on channel 1 and the third on channel 2. For this you set up three envelopes, each controlling one midi cc. But how do the two midi parts and the three envelopes understand what envelope data to send on which channel (associated with which midi part)? If the envelope had been integrated in the midi part (just like the old cc automation track) this would be no problem since each midi part control only one channel, but now the envelopes seem to have no association to the destination midi channel or to any midi part, which is unfortunate since it complicates things it seems. Sorry to ruin everybody's mood with this post, but there's definitely room for improvement Best regards, Tomas

Nice try guys...I'm faling for that again nF

Top notch Jorgen!
This deserves a few ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I concur with what's been said about midi channels and ghost copies. I'd also like to see some way to see exactly what cc value a 'notch' is at (maybe a rollover tooltip or something). Other than that, it seems funky oh, one more.... please put that curve functionality into the envelope component... pretty pleeeeease ![]() R

Nice work Jorgen!!
Just a little buggette when i tried to copy paste an envelope segment in EnergySA it crashed. Is there a way to record automation from the plugs GUI? lalo
| Rozzer | Posted: 4th June 2004 14:37 | |||
Actually I did find a bug...
I had 2x1 bar parts of automation. The first bar is at the start of the song. If I loop the first bar, the automation loops fine, but if I loop the second bar, the automation does not work, and the little value meter stops responding also. I can't seem to find a pattern for this, the 1st bar always seems to work ok, but sometimes the automation track just stops working.

This is awesome work Jorgen, having a blast playing with all this Back to eXT now, by the way, I think the semi-trans menus look cool - eye candy! Nice one Shif.

thanks for the feedback guys, bugs will be fixed this weekend, as well as some cool improvements.

Hi Jorgen and co I downloaded this last night and I cant for the life of me figure out how to set up and use the envelopes. Please help me. Thank you
| jorgen | Posted: 5th June 2004 06:14 | |||
hi, in the sequencer add an Envelope track from the Track menu. Then double-click in the part view to the right of the envelope track to insert a new envelope part.
Now, set the envelope track in edit mode (double click track, press E or select Edit from the Track menu). Double click to insert events, right-click to delete... Right-click the envelope track to route it to a VST or a MIDI port. jorgen
