I own and love Tracktion, but have heard the buzz about energyXT and was wondering how it could be used with Tracktion. What would it add? My main complaint about Tracktion is the lack of decent time-stretching. Other tools I've seen (One/Sole recently) don't work with any .wav file. I want a decent time-stretch algorithmm, would energyXT help with that? The price is definitely right, and as a VST it seems to have a lot of potential.

Currently EnergyXT doesn't timestretch - so the answer to that question is no. Generally, audio in EnergyXT is still in its infancy (but new features are added rapidly).
EnergyXT is a very flexible modular enviroment, and works great for both sketching out ideas and jamming/ performing live. I use use it in addition to Tracktion in two main ways: 1) Jamming in EnergyXT gets the song going, arranging done in Tracktion. 2) EnergyXT as a VSTi acts as a MIDI tool in Tracktion. XT has better note editing and some internal plugs (arp, chords) that enhance Tracktion MIDI abilities. Grab the demo, at xt-hq.com. It is unlimited, except it won't load saved projects. Be sure to download pough's Tracktion skin (thanks pough). |
