AuthorTopic: dr008 1.11 in sonar

Been testing the demo (have it on now), and it seems to me there are a few problems, at least with sonar 1.31.

First of all there is a very strange bug concerning the first set of filter and amplifier controls in the ultra sampler. Having the gain up greater than 0% and the filter turned on, with all controls neutral, playback of drums stutters and then drops out. I say this is strange because there is no such problem with the second set (right hand side) of amplifier and filter used in combination!

Secondly, dr-008 interferes with the proper graphical functioning of sonar. For instance, with the pad view open, the piano roll takes well over 3 seconds to open, compared to instantaneously with it shut. It's very very noticeable and annoying. A few vsts/dxis do this, including delta 3, but I thought dr-008 dxi would be optimized to avoid this kind of behaviour.

Thirdly, the 1.11 demo is suppossed to be fully functioning for four hours. Except, it will not load the drums I haved saved in its pads, saying 'error loading library'. Some of the drums were from dr-008s own synthesis modules. Not fully functioning then! My concern is that I will get the same message when I get the full version (sonar 2 xl), like some information is ingrained in the registry not to load external drums.

Forthly, reversing a fairly long hit, like a cymbal, you have to alter the start time to something greater than 0 for it to playback at all, as if 0 for long samples is more like minus infinity. Shorter samples seem fine. Its not just that the tail takes a long time to build up. I've waited and waited, but it simply will not playback at the lowest start settings!

Lastly, a minor thing, but loading up dr-008, the lanes in between the pads are all white. Dragging dr-008 so it disappears beyond the screens borders greys them up.

What I'd like to know is, are any of these problems rectified in either the full version of dr-008 1.11 or in sonar 2?

Also, do you plan on making the other modules look as good as the ultra sampler? For instance, you could replace all of the other knobs in the other modules with the much nicer ones in the ultra sampler.

Will phatmatik pro drag and drop be implemented with dr-008 in sonar?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am planning to replace all of my drums with this program!

Cheers,
Lee

Looking at the pictures in the musicans tech central review of dr-008, the modules look very different to the ones in the dxi dr-008 1.11 demo. For instance, All of the modules have sliders instead of knobs, and look a lot better. The modules also have a lot more features on them, like mute and solo buttons etc on the top. Why is there this diffrence?

Thanks,
Lee

Right, first of all, some of the problems above were down to the fact that I didn't unregister the previous demo, so I was actually using some strange hybrid of the two: only the ultra sampler looked any different, but even this was missing the integrated mute/solo etc options.

The main problems are still there though: the bug with using the first set of filter and amplifier controls as outlined above. For some reason, the default gain control on the amplifier is 50% Is this normal? Still, anything much more than 0% gain stutters, hangs, and then shuts of the audio engine.

Reverse problem is still there.

Graphical interference is fixed.

It now saves.

I am getting a much worse problem now though. There seems to be a problem with the easy sampler module. It says 'error loading library: C: Programs\...\EasySamplerP.dll'. Trying to load a sample in it crashes my whole system in that I cannot shut the damn thing down, and have to push the off button on my computer for 8 seconds! I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling. Otherwise, I think there must have been a problem with the download.

Cheers,
Lee

I had this as well, supposedly a leftover from the demo. Support suggested that I just delete that dll, as I guess it's not needed, though it did not cause my system to crash or anything.

Don't know about the rest of your problems, but it has been working great here (full version).
