Anyone use this combination? I was looking into the uad-1, but the powercore pack looks very attractive at the moment. Anyone use both? Whats the reverb in the uad-1 like? I've read some people moaning about it, but then, they were comparing it to bloody lexicon pcm81/91s! Bloody showoffs.

Not tried the Powercore but UAD-1 rocks! Verb is F.A.B. captain. And I haven't been disappointed yet. Reviews for DSP cards rate UAD-1 FX over the other makes I believe. | |

The UAD-1 reverb is pretty good, depends on your taste. I've not heard a Powercore, but I can't see how the comps and EQ could possibly be sweeter than those on the UAD-1.
The UAD is a bit of an "experts' machine" - a lot of the plugs it comes with are not the easiest to use; on the other hand, they come with enough good presets that it's not hard to learn them if you put a bit of time and effort in. I'm thinking particularly of NIGEL and the Realverb - both have about a million parameters - but also the comps are not as easy to use as the very visual Waves compressors. |
