The BFD XFL is an expansion pack for BFD, not a new version. Latest info:-

-- it's actually somewhat more than 22GB, closer to 30.

-- includes:- brushed kits, mallet kits, more cymbals (~20), super-detailed hi hats (including a Bonham hat with tambourine mount, and Stuart Copeland's actual hi hat, all recorded with 30+ velocities and 5 pedal positions), wood-hoop snares, cowbells, jam blocks, snares w/ snare off, Chad Smith signature snare, Doheny kit, rivet cymbals & much more.

-- availability: mid May

-- price: around $220 / Eu190 / GBP130

Regards,
Angus.

Will it be possible to load only part of the expansion pack?

Yep! Same as BFD "original", you will be able to specify which groups of kit pieces to install on your hard drive.

I'm sure I remember reading that it was going to be a fair bit more expensive than that so I'd convinced myself that I wasn't going to buy it! But for £140, it looks like I haven't got a good excuse anymore...

Not being that good a drummer I'd like more sequences more than more sounds.

But it's great to see XFL released ... demonstrates strong support of the product.

Me too - that sounds a far more reasonable price, looking forward to the release now, some of those new additions look very useful.

...and in further expansion pack news we have just finished recording Tommy Lee's personal drum kits (featuring a truly monsterous 34" kick), and recording him playing grooves on an electronic kit for the 2nd expansion pack. This will require upgrading BFD to support dual kick action.

XFL's shipping date has slipped back a bit to allow Steve's recording of another 8 Gb of data to make it in.

I'm curioius, did the IR samples of the room make it into the final package? I think I remember something being planned or at least mentioned with reagards to the IR files.

Also, excuse my cynicism, is the £130 including VAT? Razz

thanks,

I gave some to FXpansion, so I'll ask Skot to get these in the XFL pack. BFD XFL has been delayed to manufacturing a week or two (sadly) but the good news is the delay is for more content to be added! I siezed a sixth day of studio time last week and recorded some good new stuff from what I could manage on the request thread...

I also got some nice Sabian cymbals and from a good college friend (whose dad is drummer Richie Hayward of the band Little Feat). In fact he used these cymbals and hat on their albums Smile
