| Author | Topic: automate hardware synth via orion platinum? |
| uncadave | Posted: 22nd January 2004 04:37 |
i got my upgrade to orion platinum today in the mail.
somebody out there know how to do what i'm looking to do? i tried to operate my cheepo yamaha midi keybd last night via midi in and out of creative sb audigy ex, but instead i managed to hear a bunch of wavetables on my soundcards. i'm not too well educated yet on how to run around the midi bus's and whatnot. i'd appreciate some advice or pehaps a link to good information on midi nuts and bolts. thanks in advance

did you have the midi in and out checked?
maybe if you want to control outwards you need to only check the midi out im not sure as i dont have a synth to control using software, but i imagine if you have both switched on it will just keep circling and become trapped?i dunno also have you got the correct ins and outs set up? can you control soft synths usin you kb?

I'm not sure, maybe bones'll pop in with the correct answer,
but I would think just pushing record and twiddling the knobs on your synth ought to work .

In the drop down for selecting Instruments, at the bottom you'll see Audio Track and MIDI Out. Bring up the MIDI OUT box, and assign it to control whatever CC# on your KS4. You can link it with a 'soft synth', or automate your rig just from the box itself. Good luck!

hey, thanks for the advice..i think i asked before i read the 'quick start' for oplat thru, because on the second pass, i saw the blurb that directs me to online help...
i saw today that i can rewire to protools, too. i haven't tried anything using 'rewire' yet...this should keep me busy and interested for awhile... again, thanks!

MIDImachine is indeed the way to go. I use on my K-Station so I'm sure it will work for you.
