Has anyone got them yet?
Care to post some mp3-demo's?
I'd love to hear the same piece w/ all different wheels!
(and I wonder why NI didn't post any demo's!?!?)

The tonewheel set has been available only one day, so I doubt there are any people here who have it already. I expect it to be delivered to me in a week (ordered yesterday), so then I can send you some mp3 files if you're still interested. It's a bit strange that N.I. didn't post any mp3 demo's, but judging on their products the tonewheel set must be good.

The idea of buying software "parts" instead of complete programs is kinda funny, isn't it? Perhaps in the future we'll be able to buy software spare parts in case of something gets broken.

Let me get this right, the tonewheel update basically enables the extra organ types? Does this mean you lose the standard B3 emulation as it *replaces* the original tomewheel emulations? if so that sucks. If they are available together then cool.

It sounds to me like Native Instruments are charging for an upgrade that should potentially be free, maybe they should release the farfisa, etc as a standalone VSTi/DXi.

What does everyone else think?

The B4 upgrade would let you be able to use the new tonewheels alongside the standard ones (though not at the exact same time unless you have more than one running). And this isn't an upgrade it's an add-on, and a damn fine idea for an add-on at that. The B4 is a virtual B3, that's it. An upgrade would improve functionality, performance, capatibility issues, etc. This, on the other hand, is an add-on it gives you organs that are not a B3 emulation, it's actually a great idea. NI could've been pricks and made these all stand-alone organs charging you seperately for each or not have made them at all, this add on idea is shear brilliance. Cudos to NI. I'd definately like to check these out (I'm broke though), my only qualm with this add-on is that I don't believe the B4 layout/design doesn't change. Does it? Cause then it would just be the M-F*ing Bomb.

I doubt that the GUI will look different when you load another tonewheel. But in a few days I'll be able to see for myself.

This upgrade is a bit pricey, but they could have released three single VSTi's that would have resulted in a much higher total price. But then at least you would have gotten GUIs that look like the original instruments. But if you're broke, then you can't afford neither of them...

if it can provide the same range of sounds as the originals, I don't care whether the gui is the same or not? I thought we're in this to make music...

When you hear the finished song it doesn't matter at all how the instrument looks, because the most important thing is the sound it produces. But... I get inspired visually by the way an instrument looks. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Now the B4 looks fantastic, so no lack in inspiration there, but some VSTi's look horrible and simply won't inspire me at all. Still I wouldn't mind if the B4's GUI would look like the Vox Continental or Farfisa when you select that specific tonewheel.

Now if N.I. would be so kind to make a Solina B313 tonewheel, then my mother finally can get rid of my father's old organ...
(I'm trying to make a HALion patch of one of the Solina's sounds, but the looping is harder than I imagined. There's a buzz I can't seem to get rid of other than EQing, but I want to keep the sound as original as possible. By the way, does anyone know a good tremelo/chorus effect?
)

Hi ya all
This is my first post on this site, I'm A new member today.

Initially I thought that a individual GUI for each of the organs
in this new tone wheel set would be the icing on the cake,
but with the statistics I have gleaned from photos of the
3 organs in the pack I have changed my mind.

Vox continental has
3 switches
1 knob
15 drawbars
Total =19 control elements

Farfisa compact has
22 switches
Total= 22 control elements

Harmonium has
0
errrr emmm !!! (a GUI of a plank of wood ?
)

B4 has
10 switches
22 knobs
24 drawbars
Total =56 control elements

So any new GUI, if it was to be accurate to the origenal
would forsake access to a lot of control , if any of them has
a function that is not on the B4 it would be good to see that
added to the B4 though . I am eagerly awaiting delivery of
my copy , orderd as soon as I heard about it I think
Native Instruments products are absolutely SUPERB !!!

only wish I had a Mac so I could run Absynth.

it was lent to you by your children RESPECT !!!

I think GUI's are important as well. I hardly use MDAs free synth cause I can't stand the generic GUI it makes the synth a lot harder to work with because of it. As far as this tonewheel upgrade I just think the GUI change would be a really nice bonus, I don't think it's necessary as the B4s GUI was rather nice.

It's good to receive visual verification of what you're hearing, would you really want to bounce between 8 synths that all look identical?

Hi everyone...

Just to clarify a few things:

1>the different tonewheel sets will all be accessible via the "preset" menu list which already exists in the current version of the B4. You simply click on "presets", the menu drops down and will display all the tonewheel sets that you currently have installed. Click on one, and the entire tonewheel engine of the B4 changes accordingly.

2>Although we definitely believe in UI's making a major difference when it comes to using software, the tonewheel sets are all accessible from the same B4 UI. This does however still give you full access to all the parameters of the B4, thus giving you added controls for treating the tonewheel sets from the other instruments. With the right tweaking, this can lead to even more unique sounds since the original Vox Continental, Farisa and Harmonium did not offer such features.

hope that helps!

peace.

Thanks Omar
That is the point I was trying to make i.e the B4
has MORE control elements than the others.
A Harmonium with a rotator !!! "WOW, far out man"

Anyone know if the vox continental can make the same sounds as the vox jaguar (its little brother)? I've had a jaguar for years, and a vst version of it would be wonderful!
