After reading an article on Dash synths on the SoundOnSound site I downloaded the free synths and tried to use it in Dynamo... well, maybe I should upgrade to Reaktor... 450 Swiss francs, ouch...

To make my decision easier it would be nice to hear some independent voices about Dash synths. Who is using them?

BTW, the best wine I know is Barolo from Italy.

Cheers

Ok I would like to take a stab at this, I bought the special pack this week after looking around for good user ensambles.

Out of all the free ensambles I found that the dash stuff is well just more professional. Warrenting a bit of cash.

Lets start shall we...(Im going to be doing a nicer write up in a few days to post to the reaktor list, so this will be a bit shorter)

First of all dash is a great guy, mailed me personaly after I bought the items and we got into a bit of chatting its nice to see that. I mean lets face it when i pruchase wizzo sysex patches they never mail me personaly =)

I think thats one of the things that I realy liked, while I did not have a tech problem with the synth's I felt that if I did I would get some personal attention.

Oh yea another thing i TOTALY dig, he uses the tool tips feature to the max everytime I had a question on a control I help my mouse over the control..
Its the little things that make the packages worth buying...

daJupitar8 - LUSH/PHAT/ everything I wanted in a jupiter 8 emulation.. This was the frist one I loaded up got to preset 14 lead3 and was in love!!!!

daPhatDash - Ummm PHAT...this one is stupid phat wet AND a bag of chips...4 pole filter 3 osc's dual ASDR...the sounds thins thing can produce....

daSystem - Im just totaly confused by this one, so I never realy delt with it. Sorry..Maybe in the complete review ill play around with it its a realy nice step sequencer though kick/snare/hats/open hats/fx1/fx2/fx3 multi/fx4 multi/subbase/synth/Delay lfo on the sucker...hmmm its reason in a ensamble..=) samples are of course replaceable so this thing has alot of potention to be amazing..

daTBPlus - 303 emulation with more...cant say anything great about it..its a good ensamble but well its just vanila..=)

daVector - The only one that I have problems with opening..sometimes it works sometimes it gpf's sometimes it locks reaktor..its HUGE!!!! I realy think this pushes reakor pretty hard...is it worth it..OMG YES!!!!!!!
I lost myself just in the patch 16 entropy for about 4-5 hours...

daVocoder was interesting, I got some nice sounds out of it, has some nice sound mangling abilities, unfortunatly I was to busy with Vector to be playin =)

I realy sugest grabbing the free synths you will see the care and attention that go into these...

Ill have a larger review posted in about a week...

I second you there Ketadream
About Dash_synths , yes he does seem a nice guy
and he is always prompt in replying to emails, sometimes
within the hour
I purchased his topline pack $29 about 5-6 weeks ago
and I have already had several free upgrades from him
with some new synths.

Good synths

Good service

Good guy

No complaints

I respect what dash is doing, I think inhuman logic is an awesome ensemble, however I do have a problem with the perceived notion that all the free user ensembles are crap.
I think the user database needs some cleanup and a rating system so people can find the gems.
Search the user database for waveinhead (as mentioned above)and get ALL his synths because they are simply amazing. Also check out everything from Siegmar Kreie, hes another reaktor master. Then get everything from Paul Swennenhuis (especially flex, i love that synth)
Then some random gems are
-rsh-505 (phat and nasty sounding, check out the rip snorting snapshot)
-wavesetter can do some cool wavetable fm stuff.
-Lookuplab
-mini-sculptor - outright bizarre sounding

Hmm looking through my ensembles actually most of what i use are synths done by the 3 guys mentioned above. martin brinkmann makes some cool things but im not that into beat boxes.
Ohh and i almost forgot lazyfish. His ensembles are completely insane, a must download.

As i said i have nothing against dash, however analog emulations dont really interest me and for me there is enough free stuff that i know i havent even scratched the surface of what can be done with ensembles that are already there. I just see no reason to dish out 30 bucks. I would if he had some more exotic synthesis stuff, but to me analog emulations are probly the most boring thing you can possibly do with reaktor.

Hi, I think analog emulations are great! I have some vintage gear that I used very often, that, thanks to Dash and his fine products, I've loaned them to friends who aren't as lucky as I to have Reaktor and Dash's Wares.

Also, I have a Wavestation and I love it. I love the fact now that I have my soft-Wavestation. The litium battery seems to have gone out on my original WS, and I don't even care!

Dash's stuff is top-notch and he's always looking for ways to stretch what he's doing to take it up to another level. I don't see many developers like that.

Fast Response! I purchased my pack and in minutes I was talking to the developer. Amazing times we live in. Granted, you can't expect that kind of service from all the companys, but it's nice when it's there, isn't it?

Kind Regards,

Kenfen

thanks people

I've messed about with the Special Pack synths and they're pretty impressive.....bloody heavy on the old CPU in places though !
