AuthorTopic: Project Sample Rate and VSTi Pitch

Hello!
I have noticed that the pitch of the VSTi's changes with the sample rate of the project. Is there any way to keep the VSTi's in tune when working at a sample rate other than 44.1 because my Sblive is fixed at 48khz while using the asio drivers.
Any advice would be appreciated as I don't feel like forking out extra cash for a better asio solution

Thanks,
Raoul

If your card is fixed at 48khz, then you will ALWAYS need to set your projects in your VST host app to work at the same rate. If not, then you will have conflicting sample rates (project rate and card rate) thus causing your pitch problem.

If you plan to use 44.1khz audio files in your 48khz project, then you must also make sure to conver the audio files to 48khz or they will playback incorrectly as well.

the only other solution is to invest in a proper ASIO Card with adjustable sample rates.

peace.

A proper programmed VSTi should be in the right tune no matter what the hosts sampling frequency is.

Kunny, does this affect all your VSTi's? And which ones are they?

That's right Chris. but only if the project's clock and card clock match.

In this case, he has no choice. his card clock is stuck at 48khz. So if the the card clock stays at 48khz, and his project (host app) is clocked at 44.1khz, then all audio, VSTi channel outputs (and anything else in the project) are going to play out of tune... Since the VSTi is a plugin within your host app, it does not talk directly to the soundcard, it talks directly to the host apps audio engine. thus any settings there are reflected in the plugin.

it's just a simple issue of his project and his card clocks not matching.

peace.
