In theory the possibility to choose how many outputs you want to use is great. But what if you want to use different output settings per song? It doesn't seem to work on my system.
I make a song with Battery with 4 stereo and 2 mono outputs and save the song. Then I make a second song with different output settings (for example 2 stereo and 4 mono outputs) and save the song. Now when I want to load the first song I get the "A serious error occured" message and the song won't load. Apparently the last settings are remembered, because the second song can still be loaded. So it seems to me that the best thing to do is enabling all stereo and mono outputs and make all songs with this setting. But I doubt this is the way it should be. Who can confirm this problem? Any ideas why it doesn't work on my system? [ 26 August 2001: Message edited by: Lotuz ]

Hi Lotuz...
That is correct. Since the output settings is part of the "options", those settings are not retained by the VST host when saving the song. Those settings are internal to Battery, and Battery only. The only thing that will save with part of the song is the cells individual output setting, since that is part of the kit and part of the interface, thus able to be saved per kit, using Battery's own saving features, or the VST host. Your best bet is to figure out a permanent output settings that you will find yourself working with the most and leave it at that. I will check with the developers to see if there is a way to enhance this in future versions, but due to the nature of the option (residing within Battery's own options), im not sure it can be done. peace.

Omar,
Thanks for confirming this. Hopefully there is a way to make the output settings more flexible. That way you can use less outputs with small drum kits to lower the CPU usage, since the more outputs a VSTi has the higher the CPU usage becomes. And then song files are easier exchangable in case you're working with a couple of people at various locations (long live Internet |
