AuthorTopic: Recreating classic Commodore 64-tunes (with QuadraSID)?

Hey.

I was checking out various C64-recreations on the web, but I find it's mostly cheap eurodance- or lame pseudo d'n'b-versions of my old favourites that float around, prolly make by kids who don't respect DaHubbard enough or even know who he is.

So I'm asking - could anyone either make or point me to some *accurate* recreations of tunes from that era? I mean, now that QuadraSID exists, I'd LOVE to get either Logic- or Cubase-files that I can play and dig. Or pre-made mp3's. Yeah...I miss 1986.

Tunes to attack for takers:

Rob Hubbard:
* Monty On The Run
* Lightforce
* Crazy Comets
* Skate Or Die
* Delta
* Commando
* International Karate
* One Man And His Droid
* The Last V8

Martin Galway:
* Green Beret
* Rambo 1st Blood Part 2

Mark Cooksey:
* Ghost’n’Goblins

I met Rob Hubbard a few years ago at IMX (interactive music conference) in NYC. He was working at Electronic Arts at the time and 6 months later I was out in California interviewing. Nothing came out of that interview but I did end up moving out and and living/working near EA. It was neat to meet someone who I heard and read about for a long time. I was big into the C64 when I owned one.

I also saw Bob Moog out there on another panel.

Anyway, that was totally off topic.

QuadraSID is cool!

I started with a C-64 myself with Dr. T's Kcs back in the mid/late 80's.I actually still have it hooked up for inspiration because of a lot of unfinished peices still come in handy sometimes.I actually tried a couple C-64 emulaters for PC but gave up trying to get the drive (1541)hooked up to the PC because too much was involved.I remember a company out of Florida used to advertise in the back of Keyboard Mag. tons of patches/midi files/ and hundreds of C-64 sid songs.I actually found a their site about 2 years ago where you could download most of their catalog for free(they gave up selling the stuff).I'd have to do a real search to try and find them again if they still exsist,but if they do I'll either post or mail you.

Dr Soybean, thanks a lot! I've downloaded 30MB worth of songs, the WinAmp SidAmp-plugin and am now listening to some long forgotten (by me anyway) gamechoons. Amazing. This just goes to show that the Internet can preserve and make almost anything available. I just love how I can enjoy the fruits of other people's hard labor!
