Hi,
I've been resurrecting an old prog. that I wrote long ago in MS-DOS that creates midi sequences algorithmically. The parts can be processed by commands (it more like a command languange). For example first generate a midi sequence with n notes, based on brownian motion, with so much % rhythmic redundancy.
So far the program supports 4 types of pitch generation (brownian, white gaussian, white uniform, and 1/f). The commands are petty basic, like reverse a part (back to front), operate mathematically, generate the pitch data without affecting the rhythmic pattern, etc. So it is quite basic at the moment.
I wrote a similar module that runs on SynC Modular called Ramseq II (so if you have used it, you can get an idea of what it is).

Is there any interest in such algorithmic generators?
If so, please let me know what sort of thing you think would be interesting to implement (i.e. generators and transformers of midi data).
If you would be prepared to be a "tester" please also post here.
Cheers,
G.

Me, me, I would be interested!
Everything a bit "uncommon" and "unestablished"
could give awesome and surprising results!

Anyone tried out SoftStep from Algorithmic Arts (!) ?
It's kinda like Reaktor, only for MIDI. I did check
out the demo once, but never gotten the time to fully
test the whole thing, but I heard it is absolutely
amazing if you are the kind of person to like
algorithmic composing/creation.

Info is here: http://algoart.com/web/softstep.htm

Cheers!

Alternatively, this has been around for quite a while: http://www.midiworld.org/AuReality/products/buildingblocks/buildingblo cks.html

The author is a friend of mine, I've begged him to make a vst-plugin or vsti version. No luck so far.

At the moment MuLang can only produce 3 parts on a midi channel each (one of them is a 3 note chord sequence) and either plays on a MIDI device installed under Win or saves to a Midi file via an external programme written by Piet van Oostrum. So it is not as complete as the other proggies mentioned above. (no I haven't tried any of those).
Has anybody used KeyKit?

I will announce when there is a preview version available.
Cheers,
G.
