Well I'm here again asking the people who got infinity to let me know what they think. I know of at least two of them out there.
thanks dw | |

Hey Dr. Whokillzzzaahamma,
I'm still working on it... I've had it for a few weeks now but haven't been able to devote the time to it that it deserves (I had my nose to the grindstone at work for 2 weeks, and then got sick the following... gee, I wonder why). The little bit of time that I have spent with it has been VERY educational though, and I feel like I've got my work cut out for me if I really want to make the most of it. The tutorial is pretty deep, but very well laid out and logical (as is everything about Infinity I'm finding). The reference and explanations are VERY thorough yet concise. I did have a couple of problems running the VSTi version of Infinity inside Orion Pro, with some display errors and overuse of the CPU. However, after a couple talks with the guys at Sound Quest, they were able to track down the cause of the problems and get me a patch within a day (AWESOME support!). After the fix was made, I loaded up each of the pre-built instruments that ship with Infinity, and found the sound quality to be top-notch, with expected CPU usage (it seems comparable to SynC in that regard). There have already been a couple of service packs released, and several new objects (controls/math functions/etc.) have been added as well (with more on the way I'm told). With the little amount of time I've been able to spend with it, I'm still feeling like it was a good investment, and that it will only get better as it evolves and I learn more about it. Cheers, Brittnell Ps. I noticed Dash has an Infinity effect posted... Maybe well hear fromhim shortly.

Hy, just wanted to give my oppinion too. As you can see on my page I did a 20band Vocoder with Infinity and also used the skin hability to make a "neat" design for it: daMSV20 (Images and Mp3s) Is not fully released yet. I want to give it away FREE, but I'm waiting for some fixes on the BandPassFilter module. SQuest allredy corrected some glitches, they are giving a great support so far. I'm also working on a Modular-Synth, should be ready on a couple of days. So far I'm loving this program, for developers and synth-designers is great. It misses some good synths, but that's why me and other people are working on this. Squest wants to do the programing part and leave for Developers the synths/stuff. I'm also working on a Light-CPU-Usage KorgWavestation clone. Just waiting for the extended-sampler-module to be released with version 2.03 to start my work. I guess that Infinity is not for every user, since is pretty complex. But Squest plans to do a Pro-Infinity-Player (VSTi/DXi) for final users. This one will load any synth... So... expect a lot of new cool things for 2001! Regards, Wk

hey thanks for the replies. When I eventually sell some more of my hardware I'll ask again and then make a decision. I really hope that player comes out soon.
