What I'd like for a Self-contained
VsTi(no tassman/reaktor cpu hogs), Would be a Vsti that does double-bass. VB-1 sucks and plucked stringsXT is almost there. What would be cool would be a physical modelling synth that uses samples as well. I tried tassman 2.0 and there is some really convincing double-bas sounds. But since its assembling type of thing (Im no programmer so sorry for the terminalogy) its very cpu intense. So it would be a mix between plucked-stringsXT2.0 with a little tassman and Samples thrown in... And since it would be a vsti and not an assembled one like tassman/reaktor it would be more cpu efficient. a legato mode would be excellent for those slide like in Drum and Bass

There are good free soundfonts and you'll be able to
use it with Virtual Sampler or BS-1. I had the problem cause I'm working on 60's ska arrangements and I needed good double-bass samples. I found a good one and I can look for the download adress if you want... Bye Sam.

www.hammersound.net is the place for upright bass fonts. There's a good half a dozen or more there if you dig around.
I use double bass frequently ... sf2 and VSampler, exactly as samex says. Sounds great with the acoustic guitar fonts also found at hammersound. no fx and no compression will keep the natural sound of upright bass nicely (except maybe a touch of reverb). Sorry this is such a low tech reply btw if you have trouble finding them, or they've been taken off, holler and I'll leave a few out for download. |
