i tried to import the gigapiano into halion and, and although it works, it has several bugs.

the CCs are not imported into the program. when you use the sustain pedal the notes are doubled so it sounds really weird. i'm not sure if the correct samples are triggered when you use sustain, either.

and a last note. it took hours to import the file....

Does it take as long to import them a second time? Can you save them after importing in Halion format & load them more quickly?

The first time you run Giga, it profiles your hard drives for Akai & Giga programs. This can take days to complete the first time, literally, but it only happens once.
